This sink drains very slowly. I've unscrewed all I can and cleared out the gunk and it drained better for a minute and then slowed down again. Could the issue be with this setup or is it likely further down the line?

Is this acceptable as a new, out of the box Insinkerator? Purchased a new Insinkerator Badger 500 from Home Depot and this is what it looked like out of the box. The box was new and had only been taped once, but it's clearly *not* new. Has anyone seen this before? Is it an attempt to sell a refurb unit as new? Or just bad QC?
