As many of you may know, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) has lost $1.1 billion in public media funding. This significant loss will have a profound impact on Public Broadcasting Systems (PBS) National Public (NPR) Radio affiliate stations across the country — including right here at Jazz 91.9 WCLK, licensed to Clark Atlanta University.

We invite you to read the letter below from our General Manager, Wendy F. Williams, as she explains the urgent need for your support during this critical time. Your contribution can help ensure the survival of Jazz public radio in Atlanta.

Dear Friends of WCLK,

For more than 50 years, WCLK has been a trusted voice in the Atlanta community and beyond—offering music, stories, and conversations that educate, inspire, and connect us all. This legacy would not be possible without the generous and unwavering support of our donors and sponsors. These contributions have sustained our quality programming and provided critical support that keeps us on the air.

Recent developments at the federal government level will have a direct impact on the future of WCLK. Due to significant cuts to federal funding for public broadcasting, WCLK will lose its annual $300,000 grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and WCLK will lose access to music licensing rights previously provided to NPR stations.

These changes present a serious challenge—but also an opportunity for our community to unite in support of something we all value deeply. Simply put, to continue delivering the programming you love, we must now replace this lost funding through the support of individuals and organizations who believe in our mission.
