An Ohio State University student was found dead in his apartment building in 2000. Nearly 25 years later, a man is facing charges in connection with his death.

A Franklin County grand jury indicted Brian Swanson, 48, of Cincinnati, on Thursday on charges of aggravated murder and murder in connection with the Feb. 8, 2000, death of 22-year-old Charles “Chico” Ballard. Authorities filed a warrant for Swanson’s arrest, according to court records.

Ballard, a mechanical engineering student from Shaker Heights, was attending Ohio State on a full academic scholarship, The Dispatch, part of the USA TODAY NETWORK, previously reported.

Around 6 p.m. Feb. 9, 2000, his body was found in the basement of a home. Ballard had lived in an apartment on the first floor of the building.

A federal judge on Tuesday blocked Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency from firing any more USAID employees or terminating USAID contracts, writing that efforts to speedily shut down the aid organization were likely unconstitutional.

The Trump administration’s shutdown efforts “likely violated the United States Constitution in multiple ways,” wrote Judge Theodore D. Chuang.

Chuang wrote that the accelerated process “deprived the public’s elected representatives in Congress of their constitutional authority to decide whether, when, and how to close down an agency created by Congress.”

Five years after COVID-19 was declared an official pandemic, the U.S. government has suspended its free at-home COVID test distribution program.

The Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR), part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, shut down ordering via covidtests.gov Sunday, posting a notice that says, “The free at-home COVID-19 test distribution program is not currently accepting orders.”

Orders placed before 8 p.m. ET Sunday, March 9, 2025, will still be shipped, said the notice. The USPS website for ordering likewise said that “ordering through this program has been suspended effective March 9, 2025.”

Before that time, American households were able to place orders through the website for free at-home COVID tests, which were then shipped for no cost through the U.S. Postal Service. Ordering via the website has been closed and re-opened periodically since it was launched in late 2021, usually with renewed eligibilities.

WASHINGTON − Billionaire Elon Musk, who has been cutting thousands of federal workers as the head of Department of Government Efficiency, on Thursday reposted a message on X saying “Hi**er didn’t murder millions of people. Public sector employees did.”

The post read: “Stalin, Mao, and Hi**er didn’t murder millions of people. Their public sector employees did.”

Musk’s repost, which now appears to be deleted, drew furious reactions from a labor union and the Anti-Defamation League.

Once a week, on any given Virgin Voyages sailing, there’s a special night that has all passengers seeing red.

From the moment you step out of your cabin you might be seeing fellow “sailors” – as Virgin calls passengers – donning a splash of red while others go the extra crimson-clad mile. It ranges from scarlet T-shirts to floor-length ruby gowns. The point of the night is to feel comfortable and ready for surprises.

“Scarlet Night was meant to be the moment where we could bring everyone together – one massive celebration where people can feel free, let go, and have the time of their lives,” Virgin Voyages’ VP of Entertainment Richard Kilman told USA TODAY. “It’s not just a party; it’s a shared experience where lifelong friendships are made.”

WASHINGTON – The Republican-controlled House approved a spending bill Tuesday supported by President Donald Trump to fund the government for the next six months.

The vote dares Senate Democrats to oppose the GOP priorities and risk a partial government shutdown at midnight Friday, as the nation faces economic uncertainty and stocks markets wobble.

The showdown comes as Trump and his billionaire adviser, Elon Musk, are dismantling federal agencies and laying off tens of thousands of workers, and while the GOP-led administration escalates a trade war with America’s neighbors and longtime allies.

WASHINGTON – War-torn Ukraine, reeling from an Oval Office meltdown between President Donald Trump and leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy, will get a do-over Tuesday when its negotiators meet with administration officials in Saudi Arabia.

After a dramatic Feb. 28 White House blowup derailed a minerals deal, roiled relations between the two countries and led to a U.S. cutoff of weapons and intelligence, Washington and Kyiv are hopeful they can repair relations and make progress on a truce with Russia.

The talks in Jeddah will be make or break.

Talk about curveballs. Leave it to Danny McBride to let fly a doozy.

That was indeed multi-Oscar-nominee Bradley Cooper as a Civil War-era robber turned preacher in “The Righteous Gemstones,” whose fourth and final season kicked off Sunday (nine episodes airing weekly 10 p.m. EDT/PDT on HBO).

This flashback kickoff, which looks to tell the devious origin story of the megachurch-leading Gemstone clan, went from long shot to lock quickly.

It was a cannibalistic season for the murderous Traitors, who went at each other more than they targeted Faithfuls to kill off on the competition show.

Their strategy was so individualistic, so uncompromising, that it cost the group – comprising Bob the Drag Queen, “Boston” Rob Mariano, Carolyn Wiger, Danielle Reyes and Britney Haynes – the prize pot of up to $250,000. They left the door wide open for Faithfuls Gabby Windey, Dylan Efron, Dolores Catania and Lord Ivar Mountbatten to take the bragging rights as the Season 3 winners.

First to go from the murderous bunch was “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 8 winner Bob (who is non-binary and uses he/him and she/her pronouns), affectionately

US prosecutors charged ten Chinese citizens and two government agents for computer hacks that targeted dissidents, religious groups, news outlets and American government agencies.

The Chinese government paid Anxun Information Technology Co., a cybersecurity firm also known as i-Soon, to hack and steal information in a manner that obscured its involvement, the US alleges.

Eight iSoon employees and two Chinese Ministry of Public Security officials were accused with various crimes for their alleged hacking of email accounts, mobile phones, servers and websites between 2016 and 2023, according to an indictment unsealed Wednesday. Separate charges were also made public against two other Chinese citizens, who prosecutors said in a statement were linked to a recent breach of the US Treasury Department.
