🌊🤖 **A FLOATING AI DATA CENTER COULD ALSO POWER CITIES AND MAKE FRESH WATER**

A proposed U.S. offshore platform called **Kraaken** is combining three very different technologies into one floating system: **AI computing, electricity generation and desalination.**

The concept, developed by Optimal Transit under its **Blue Economy VITAL 100 MW** configuration, would dedicate around **60 MW** to AI-grade computing while generating up to **40 MW of continuous electricity** for coastal communities.

According to the company, that electricity could be enough to power roughly **32,000 homes**. 🏠⚡

But the idea doesn't stop there.

💧 The platform is projected to produce around **30 million liters (7.9 million gallons) of freshwater every day** — enough for an estimated **150,000 people**.

The proposed system would combine **ocean thermal energy, waste heat from computing equipment and cold deep-seawater** to support cooling and desalination. It could also potentially disconnect from shore and relocate during severe storms.

If successful, one offshore platform could essentially function as an **AI data center, power station and freshwater plant at the same time.**

However, Kraaken is still a **proposed project**, not an operating facility. Its technology, efficiency and performance claims will need to be demonstrated at full scale.

The concept raises a fascinating question: **Could the oceans become the next frontier for powering AI while producing electricity and fresh water?** 🌊🔬
