AHMAD GITTEH HAS NO MORAL AUTHORITY TO LECTURE UDP ON LOYALTY OR LEADERSHIP

It is astonishing to hear Ahmad Gitteh speaking about loyalty, leadership and political principles when his own political record is filled with contradictions.

This is the same Ahmad Gitteh who publicly declared that he would never return to the NPP unless President Adama Barrow left the party. This is the same Ahmad Gitteh who repeatedly criticized the NPP leadership and openly attacked the First Lady with offensive remarks. Today, he wants Gambians to take his lectures on integrity seriously?

The truth is that UDP does not need Ahmad Gitteh's opinion on matters concerning Talib Ahmed Bensouda and the UDP. His position is neither neutral nor objective. His support for Talib's decision is driven by his long-standing hostility toward Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, not by any genuine concern for democracy or fairness.

Leadership contests are normal in any political party, but loyalty, discipline and respect for party structures are equally important. UDP has survived for decades through sacrifice, commitment and collective struggle, not because of any single individual.

Ahmad Gitteh should first explain his own political inconsistencies before attempting to advise UDP members on what they should do. A man who constantly changes positions depending on circumstances cannot be the standard-bearer for political integrity.

The UDP remains focused on strengthening the party and preparing for the future. We will not be distracted by the opinions of politicians whose political careers are defined more by controversy than by consistency.

Council Resolution on the Inclusion of Alkalolu and Seyfolu in Value Property Rate Revenue Mobilization.

At its Monthly General Council Sitting held on16th June 2026, the Council resolved to include Alkalolu and Seyfolu in the mobilization of value property rate revenue.

This recommendation was presented to Council members by the Finance Sub-Committee with the objective of enhancing efficient and effective revenue mobilization under this revenue head, while also strengthening the relationship and collaboration between local authorities and the Council.

The Council further resolved that an incentive of 5% for Alkalolu and 2.5% for Seyfolu shall be allocated from the revenue mobilized through their coordination and efforts.

In light of this development, the Management and Staff of the Council urge all local authorities to diligently implement this new responsibility entrusted to them and to work collaboratively towards improving revenue collection for sustainable regional development.

Councillor Lamin Dibba Joins Major Community Clean-Up Exercise in Mandinaba

MANDINABA, June 13, 2026

In a demonstration of community leadership and environmental responsibility, the Councillor for Piran Ward, Lamin Dibba, on Saturday joined the Mandinaba Youth Association, the Mandinaba Village Development Committee (VDC), and the Brikama Area Council (BAC) in a large-scale community cleansing exercise aimed at preparing the settlement for the upcoming rainy season.

The exercise, which attracted youth volunteers and community stakeholders, focused on key public areas including the Mandinaba Market, Mandinaba Police Station, the Trans-Gambia Highway corridor, the Mandinaba–Giboroh Highway, and several residential neighborhoods.

Speaking during the exercise, Councillor Dibba described the initiative as both timely and necessary, emphasizing that environmental cleanliness remains one of the most effective measures for preventing flooding, reducing health risks, and promoting community wellbeing during the rainy season.

As part of his contribution to the exercise, Councillor Dibba donated cleaning materials to the Mandinaba Youth Association to strengthen and sustain their environmental sanitation efforts beyond the day's activity.

Representing the development agenda of the Brikama Area Council under the leadership of Chairman Yankuba Darboe, the councillor commended the youth association for what he described as their unwavering commitment to community development and environmental protection.

He also expressed appreciation to the Mandinaba Village Development Committee (VDC) and other community stakeholders whose support contributed to the success of the exercise.

The clean-up campaign reflects the growing partnership between local authorities, youth groups, and community leaders in promoting public health, environmental sustainability, and civic responsibility across the West Coast Region.

Residents were encouraged to maintain the momentum by embracing proper waste management practices and participating in future community-led sanitation initiatives aimed at keeping Mandinaba clean, healthy, and resilient.

"A clean environment is a shared responsibility. Together, we can build a healthier and more prosperous community for all," Councillor Dibba stated.

Badibu Salikeni Elder Alhajie Sedia ceesay Confronts UMC Delegation, Reaffirms Loyalty to UDP

During a meeting attended by a UMC delegation led by Talib Ahmed Bensouda and Ebrima Dibba, respected Badibu Salikeni elder Alhajie Sedia ceesay delivered a passionate and emotional address, openly expressing his disappointment over recent political developments.

Speaking directly before the delegation, Alhajie Sedia ceesay recalled the pain and disappointment he felt when Ebrima Dibba left the UDP. He emphasized that the UDP had played a major role in shaping many political careers and that loyalty to the party should never be taken lightly.

The veteran political figure further declared that his allegiance remains firmly with the UDP, stressing that his commitment to the party is unwavering despite changing political circumstances. He noted that the UDP's history, sacrifices, and contribution to democratic governance in The Gambia continue to inspire his support.
