Interesting finding and hits close to home at the current moment. As long as no cats are harmed in the process, sounds like they may be a truer model for research of this disease.

A new study from researchers at the University of Edinburgh shows that cats may develop dementia in a similar way to humans — which could potentially have a major impact on the way scientist study the disease and lead to advancements in treatment.

Hello everyone. I need your help (AGAIN)!
Paws Whiskers & Claws, The Feline Hospital, the clinic I manage and where I have worked for nearly 20 years now, is again in need of hiring a doctor. Please help us spread the word to other vet professionals to help us network to find a feline focused veterinarian. This page and all of the wonderful networking and resources helped us hire last time. You guys did an amazing job sharing my plea for help! Sadly, one of our new vets, as much as she loves PWC and what we stand for, is really missing her family and is moving back home to be closer to them. The good news is that she will bring all she has learned to help her new job be more feline focused and fear free. So the PWC message is still spreading and helping cats!

Our clinic is a unique and special place. We do things very differently. Most vets who love cats and who really want to take the time to educate and truly help their patients would jump at the opportunity to practice the way we practice! We will teach and help empower a new vet to practice the way we have successfully practiced all these years.

We practice highly ethical feline only medicine, we are a no declaw facility, and we do not perform client convenience euthanasia. We focus heavily on senior cats, managing multiple comorbidities with a huge emphasis on feline behavior. We do not board and we rarely hospitalize as cats do so much better in their home environment. We instead empower our clients to become proficient treating at home.

We also have an amazing retail department that complements all of the recommendations made in the exam room including a HUGE assortment of Rx diets, food puzzles, scratching posts & of course tons of second to none toys.

Our appointment times range from 30 minutes to an hour & a half, unheard of these days! We teach, we educate, and listen! Our compliance is very high, our clients & patients have come to expect a certain standard. We are not looking for a warm body, we are looking for passion to carry the torch!

Meet Toby! Toby was adopted at 10 years of age and soon after stopped using the litter box in his new home. Thankfully, he was adopted by an awesome and dedicated Cat Mom who would stop at nothing to get to the bottom of the problem. In many cases like this, these cats were given up BECAUSE of the elimination issue but we do not tend to see this present when stressed in a shelter or confined to a cage. Then, once settled into the new space, we start to see the issues again. Thankfully, we have Toby all fixed up! YU can read more here in my latest client testimonial. I love his snaggletooth in this photo!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of hosting at our home for a photo shoot. It was great fun, everyone was so cooperative and well behaved. Will share the full project in due time! Yes, Tank sure did thrash his skateboard while ringing the bell and hi-fiving! Look at how attentive Sven was, it’s like he was made to be a super model!

Some of you may recall we visited this shelter during our trip to Europe in 2023! De Poezenboot was so incredibly kind to open up for us on a Sunday when they are normally closed to give us a private tour! So grateful for that lovely gesture. What an experience!
