The photo is one of two existing interior images snapped by the architects just before the theatre opened its doors in 1926. When I saw the final two-page spread, I was stunned by the clarity and detail of the 100-year-old photograph.

Among the people interviewed for the upcoming “Pitman’s Broadway Theate at 100” book? Donna Fargo, who at 79, is still recording. In Nov. 1977, she became the first Nashville act to grace the stage at the Broadway on Thanksgiving weekend 1977.

On being the first country artist to perform at the Broadway, she recalled, “ I don’t know if I knew that back then or not. I just remember the people were so nice. The people behind the scenes running the show and all of the people who came to the shows. It was one of my favorite places to play.”
