It seemed only fitting that when David asked if I wanted to meet renowned local artist Steve West for a quick hang and shoot, we would find ourselves in front of a very familiar site. Not just one of Atlanta’s iconic building-sized living murals done by the artist Roa, but the subject of which seems to follow me wherever I go: an alligator. 🐊
Having grown up in Florida, before stepping foot in any body of water, you always ask yourself if there could be roughly 80 teeth lurking in the depths. For the uninitiated, the answer is always yes. 🤣
But as I grew up, I learned what they want, when they want it, and the conditions preferred for them to want me unconditionally. With that insight, they become more of a nostalgic, albeit prehistoric, reminder of home.
Reflecting on that, as I sat next to a longtime friend on top of a well-traveled bike in front of the 40-foot gator, I felt a sense of synchronicity. A sign that all is well and my path is clear.
Although I find myself in a constant world of change, I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be at exactly when I need to be.
Take this message as encouragement to you, wherever you are, whatever you’re going through. The life you’ve lived has prepared you for what’s in store.
Stay brave and step into the water. You know the conditions to look out for, and if you’re in doubt, hit me up. I happen to actually be a certified alligator wrestler. 😂
