In our latest episode of the U.S. of N/A 🎙️, we sit down with .world co-founder and CEO, David Fudge, to talk about what he and his team set out to do when they created Aplós, and why it’s so important to create a category with flavor profiles that stand on their own. In this clip, David shares why he felt it was an advantage for neither he nor his co-founder to have beverage experience prior to starting the journey.

We recently had an opportunity to visit the museum located in our hometown of Atlanta. In this southern city it’s not “soda” or “pop”, but always “Coke”, although that’s a story for another day (IYKYK).

Regardless of what you think of the company or its products, they are, and have always been, on the leading edge of .🧋It was interesting to see old ads and positioning from Coke over the years, and how they’ve tapped into nostalgia and social rituals over the many decades the company has been in existence.

While sodas have always occupied their own lane in beverage, continued diversification of the category for consumers looking for more (and often, healthier) options has blurred the lines. And for the adult non-alcoholic space in general, ‘functional’ drinks are diverting attention away from what’s NOT in any beverage to what actually is. Where will this lead us in the decades to come? That’s anyone’s guess. But we’re excited for that future ahead.

No-and-low is growing up 🥂, with flavor profiles, additives, and sugar content becoming the defining battlegrounds.

In our latest U.S. of N/A episode🎙️, we sit down with Michael Colangelo, Founder & CEO of to unpack what it takes to really create great beverages in the no-and-low alcohol world.

A chemist by trade, Michael started his career in the pharmaceutical space, eventually taking his talents to craft beverages. If you’ve enjoyed a glass of non-alc wine from or its mid-strength sister brand, , you’ve probably tasted his work. We talk about the fact that most of today’s NA consumers aren’t abstaining but moderating, and how that shift changes expectations around balance, texture, and authenticity of the drink. We also dig into:

➡️ The tradeoffs behind reduced sugar and sugar substitutes.
➡️ Why ingredient transparency matters, but not fear-based framing.
➡️ What “additives” and preservatives actually do (and don’t).

We know mindful drinking supports wellness and healthier choices. But has it also now become aspirational?

That was the question we posed to Sam Bail on the latest episode of the U.S. of N/A🎙️. Sam founded , and has been running pop-up non-alc events in New York City for three years. What’s been different lately in her business? Getting calls from brands in fashion and beauty wanting to feature non-alcoholic drinks at industry and launch events. 🍾 It’s part of a broader trend of NA continuing to show up in high places, beyond the dusty cabinet where bars and restaurants used to keep the O’Doul’s.

In our conversation we talk about:

➡️ What led Sam to start a business in non-alc, and how it’s evolved.🍸
➡️ How inclusivity around drinking has broadened her base of clients.🤝🏼
➡️ Is corporate America grasping onto mindful drinking yet.👩🏼‍💼
