Sad news. The "sharing economy" is just not tenable right now.

Yesterday, we were informed that our bike-share partner, Zagster, will no longer be providing service to the Cumberland area. The company said it will begin their removal process today and have all bikes and stations removed by June 12th. ⠀

While we are surprised and saddened by this news, we are working diligently to provide regional connectivity options that support our community. As we learn more, we will keep you updated. ⠀

The Center for Family Resources (CFR) has announced that they will not reschedule their postponed annual gala in 2020.
“At this time, we do not feel rescheduling the gala for this year would be fiscally responsible,” says Melanie Kagan, Chief Executive Officer for the CFR.

Cobb EMC + Gas South = Sustainability - Cobb In Focus

“This project is an innovative partnership that helps the cooperative learn how to better support our members who have interest in solar and battery storage and provide peak reduction savings that are passed on to our members. This means a decreased amount of electricity supplied from the grid,” says Cobb EMC Vice President of Power Supply and Planning Tim Jarrell.

The project broke ground on February 13, as leaders from Cobb EMC, Gas South, the Cobb Chamber of Commerce, Creative Solar USA, and Northern Reliability all were on hand for the groundbreaking ceremony.

For Drew Tutton, the commitment to supporting technical education grew organically from his own personal experience.

Operation Meal Plan, a small business and non-profit support initiative, was created by the Cobb Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Cobb Community Foundation, the Center for Family Resources, and Cobb County’s non-profits to provide food to those in need, help local restaurants keep their workers employed, and provide a vehicle for citizens to help each other.

“This project is just one great example of how Cobb’s business and non-profit communities are pulling together to get help to those in need,” said Sharon Mason, president and CEO of the Cobb Chamber. “Our goal was to find a way to keep our restaurants afloat while providing a valuable resource to our non-profits who are serving people in need. Operation Meal Plan is a way to link these entities together.”

The Cobb Chamber and its economic development initiative SelectCobb are partnering with Cobb Travel & Tourism to conduct a workforce matching effort between commercial cleaning and janitorial service companies and hospitality and tourism entities.
“Today, the hospitality industry is being challenged in unprecedented ways, with many hotels and organizations furloughing or laying off large numbers of employees. Connecting former hospitality employees with cleaning / janitorial companies who are accepting applications through workforce matching is an important way that Cobb Travel & Tourism and the Cobb Chamber are helping to keep people employed,” said Holly Quinlan, President and CEO of Cobb Travel & Tourism.
