In 1991, Isaac Wright Jr. was wrongfully convicted in New Jersey and given a life sentence. Knowing he was innocent, he refused to surrender. Instead of accepting that fate, he began intensely studying the law behind bars.
Working as a dedicated jailhouse lawyer, Wright helped fellow inmates challenge their cases while carefully dismantling his own. He exposed serious misconduct tied to his wrongful conviction, leading to his case being fully overturned and his release in 1997.
Once free, Wright became a licensed attorney to defend others facing broken legal systems. In a striking twist of justice, the judge who originally sentenced him was later removed from the bench and imprisoned for separate corruption.
