ATLANTA – Students gathered in Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel on Thursday, Mar. 19, for the Bayard Rustin Crown Forum panel, “Black Q***r Images As Sacred Archive”. Moderated by Reverend Quincy Rhinehart, the Associate Dean of the chapel, the panel featured Reverend O.C. Allen, pastor of Vision Cathedral, a q***r-affirming Pentecostal church in Atlanta; Reverend Dr. Brandon Thomas Crowley (‘08); and Reverend Father Darrell L. Tiller (‘83).

Together, they discussed the necessity and power of q***rness throughout African-American history, particularly Black q***rness in sacred and educational spaces. The panelists, all openly q***r, reflected on the enduring legacy of q***rness throughout Black religious and educational spaces.

ATLANTA – As the first week of Women’s History Month unfolded across the nation, the recent Crown Forum atmosphere encouraged reflection. Moderated by David Wall Rice, the discussion brought a living history to the stage. While the narrative of the Civil Rights Movement is often framed through the singular lens of heroic men, the Daughters of the Movement – a collective of women who are the direct descendants of the movement’s most iconic figure – are shifting that perspective.

Growing up at the dining room tables where marches were planned and sit-ins were strategized, these “legacy holders” shared what it means to carry the oral history, cultural values, and wisdom of revolutionary leaders into a new era.

ATLANTA – The Morehouse Maroon Tigers closed the regular season on a high note on Feb. 26, defeating the Spring Hill Badgers 82–72 at Forbes Arena to claim the outright Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) East Division title and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.

The win was a fitting conclusion to an impressive regular season under head coach Larry Dixon. In his first season leading the program, Dixon guided Morehouse to a 19–9 overall record and a dominant 19–5 mark in SIAC play. The Tigers were one of the conference’s most consistent teams all season, combining disciplined defense with an unselfish offensive approach that made them difficult to scout and harder to stop.

ATLANTA – More than two months after firing Terance Mathis, Morehouse College announced on February 18 that Brad Sherrod will lead the Maroon Tigers into the fall season.

Sherrod, a former linebacker at Duke University from 1989 to 1993, earned Second-Team All-ACC honors in 1993. He brings an extensive coaching résumé, most recently at Texas Wesleyan University, where he went 17–6 over the past two seasons. That stretch included a 10–1 campaign and an NAIA playoff appearance in 2024.
