I spent a lot of my life in the background. Afraid of being seen. Afraid of being heard. Scared that I’d be too much while simultaneously not being enough. At a point I no longer needed a bully because I bullied myself into the background to play the sideline character in my own story…and then something shifted. I felt God calling me up and out. My heart opened, and since that day I haven’t been able to go back into the shadows.

I’ve been boldly telling my story since 2017 and this campaign somehow seems different than the others. There’s something about that makes me want to be unapologetically me. Maybe it’s in the stars to speak my truth without filter. Maybe it’s the time to live without shame. Whatever it maybe, I’m glad it’s in me and on me.

I’m grateful I’ve found my voice in this lifetime, at this age, in this body. I thank my ancestors that I don’t look like what I’ve been through, because what I’ve been through almost broke me. Now, what I’ve been through is shifting a landscape. Changing systems and cultivating spaces.

Soooooo…the Hidradenitis Suppurativa campaign I’m a part of just launched at the largest dermatology conference in the country.There’s my face, there’s my body, taking up space, unapologetically at AAD. I think I’m the first fat dark skinned q***r woman to be in an HS campaign. AND that’s teeeeeaaaaaaaaa!!!!

For Valentine’s Day I spent the evening with my honey and we ate gooooooddddd restaurant in downtown Detroit.

Chef prepared a five, FIVE course meal for us lovers in the room. A meal that was 100% vegan and 1000% delicious. It was accompanied by wine and champagne which was flowing all night. My soul was fed, my stomach was full and my love and I laughed all night. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend this beautiful holiday.

One thing about me, love is always on my mind. How can I love my partner better? How can I love myself more? How can I be a source of love and safety for others? It’s a lifelong journey of discovery and feedback.

I pray whether you were with someone or not, you felt loved…because you are 😘💕🥂

And yes I cut my hair off. 2026 will the year of new beginnings in many ways and we are starting off fresh and new with a cut.

Thank you for inviting me to speak at the first chapter meeting of the year. It was truly a full circle moment.

The first time I ever met other people living with Hidradenitis Suppurativa in person was at a Detroit Hope for HS meeting back in 2015. To return and stand in that same space, now speaking about my journey with this disease, felt surreal. I’m deeply grateful that there was a light at the end of the tunnel.

After I spoke, guided us through a beautiful yoga session tailored specifically for flare-prone bodies. We closed the night with a thoughtful roundtable discussion led by . I already know I’ll be back.

The next meeting will be a bingo night with some great prizes, so if you weren’t able to attend this one, I highly recommend coming to the next.

This Thursday I have the amazing opportunity to speak at the first Hope for HS Detroit chapter meeting mid the year. I’m very excited to talk about my journey with HS and to founding my nonprofit The Association of Hidradenitis Suppurativa and Inflammatory Diseases.

If you’re living with HS in the city or in Michigan period, this would be a great opportunity to meet other HS warriors where you live. Community is foundational in our healing journeys and this is a great opportunity to build connections with people who know exactly what you’re going through.

I am so excited to announce that I’ll be speaking at the chapter meeting this week. I’ll be talking a bit about my journey with HS and building AHSID alongside my career in advocacy.

For my friends with HS in Michigan, this is a great opportunity to attend a support group with other patients in the city of Detroit. Building community is foundational to healing the body so come out and join us. See me, see us, meet everyone! 💕
