Ayibobo! Today, I had the honor of sitting among the elders during a powerful conference on Bois Caïman. What they shared with us was more than information, it was ancestral wisdom, history, and living konesans passed down through generations.

In Haitian Vodou, we must never underestimate the importance of our elders. They are the keepers of memory, the guardians of tradition, and the bridge between those who came before us and those who will come after us.

Books can teach us many things, but there is knowledge that can only be preserved through people and through their experiences, their stories, their ceremonies, and the lessons entrusted to them by those who taught them.

Today reminded me why we must listen when our elders speak. We must honor them, learn from them, and preserve what they give us so that we can pass it forward.

When an elder shares wisdom, a generation is being entrusted with its inheritance.
