Project Pencil Skirt

Three percent of all creative directors are women, yet women spend 80% of the average household income. Women are consistently being marketed to by men who have very little experience of what is is actually like being a woman. Project Pencil Skirt is an effort for positive change to more accurately reflect the population, and get more women into those creative director roles and change the way women are portrayed in the media. Logo Design- FlatIron City

I did these logo designs for an Atlanta institution. The Atlanta Flatiron building downtown is even older than the Flatiron in Manhattan and is considered to be Atlanta's first skyscraper. Right now it's going through a big remodel, and rebranding to help usher it into the 21st century. A call for simple logo design was given with less than a 48 hours to work within the deadline, and thus I created these three logos as possible contenders. [ 540 more words. ]

Tonkin Concept Art Part 5

I feel like this is getting closer to the pallet and the final character design for Tonkin. I'm liking the layers of textures and analogous color harmony. On another note, the second Tonkin story has been outlined, and will be in the pipeline right after the first Tonkin story is completed, so there are sure to be at least two stories in the series with many more to come in the future. Tonkin concept art Pt. 3 http://wp.me/p3Rhnx-iQ

Another bit of Tonkin concept art. I'm liking the contrast between the sharp edges and lines and the texture overlays. I don't think Tonkin would typically be this dramatic, but it's a fun exercise. See some of the rough story boards for Tonkin here.

He asked me to come up with a logo for him, and this is where we're at with it right now.

Part 3 of a twelve part series of illustrations of musicians is Billie Holiday, as it is the 100th anniversary of her birth. She is personally one of my favorite voices, and had such an interesting life. Here is what wikipedia says about Lady Day's powerful voice. Happy Birthday Ms. Holiday. I made these! The design for these were inspired by some earrings that my boyfriend made for me last year. I love them so much and found myself wearing them all the time so I decided to make some to sell. These are a little different than the ones he made me, but those are one of a kind and I would never replicate something made out of love to sell.

I'm catching up on commissions that I fell behind on while I was working full time. A very talented musician, Kevin Bales, commissioned me to illustrate a dozen musicians for his collection. Today is Louis Armstrong day. Here is what wikipedia has to say about Louis. Coming to prominence in the 1920s as an "inventive" trumpet and cornet player, Armstrong was a foundational influence in jazz, shifting the focus of the music from collective improvisation to solo performance.
