This past Saturday brought an unexpected honor that has left me both grateful and reflective. I was privileged to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Athens Film Festival—a recognition that feels especially meaningful coming from Georgia's growing film community.
The evening was made even more special by the screening of "The Accountant," the Academy Award-winning short film from 2001. Seeing this Georgia-made story on the big screen again, 25 years after it was shot it in the heart of our state, reminded me why I love filmmaking. Having members of the original cast and crew reunite in Athens for this moment made it truly unforgettable.
What strikes me most about the Athens Film Festival is its commitment to celebrating both international voices and homegrown Georgia talent. In just its second year, this festival is already creating meaningful connections within our creative community and providing a platform for storytellers from around the world.
Thank you to the festival organizers, the audience, and everyone who has been part of this incredible journey over the decades. Georgia's film community continues to inspire, and I'm honored to be part of its story. Special thanks to John Carter.
