AI... AI... Uh Oh.

It's been 2 years since I started using AI for tasks and some artwork. I've tried using it for some vocal parts and small elements in beats as well. I must say that it put me into a musical slump. In the midst of using it, I lost a full HD of beats (months of work), and my first thought was... AI. I didn't go for it... but the thought made me approach the music in a lackluster and uninspired type of way.

We have finally hit a point where a rapper (Fenix Flexin) has cos-played himself into relevance with AI. The disappointment isn't in the song being AI but because of people & music execs like (Punch TDE) couldn't even tel Another layer is that my age demo 30+ just accepts it as THE THING unlike the new gen. I can't help but feel that this is a transition point in music & IDK if it's a good one. On top of that I posed a question to my facebook "Did you quit music or nah" a lot of people said no... Quite a few said "Nah.. We have suno now" or "I put songs on spotify with suno".I think the mixture of what the SUNO ceo said (artists don't like the process of getting good at music) and also hearing your lyrics come to life instantly has made SUNO a go to for a lot more artists that would like to admit. But more on that later

In 2003, I was at the cusp of a new era in technology (Fruity Loops 3). This was the first software that could rival any other DAW and workstation of the time, BUT people my age now, back then, were ANTI-FL... calling the beats "computer beats," etc. etc. lol. I can't help but laugh at the irony of how I feel now, ACTUALLY HEARING COMPUTER BEATS. I distinctly remember telling Mike Caren, "You better get used to it because this is the creative canvas of the future." I stand on the opposing side of the table today, where AI... actual computer beats... are the canvas of the future.

I can't help but be reminded of creatives like Alchemist, 9th Wonder, and others who chose to stay the path of the old. I guess that's the point at which I am today... standing in the ways of the old, BUT with some conflict, because I've always been modular in my approach.

My honest belief is that AI is here to build systems and software ...not to just create for us, but to make it easier to create. Whether that be by reading documents, answering emails, game-planning marketing strategy, deep-dive research on subjects, or even finding new ways to connect with your audience. I don't believe it's meant to be a paintbrush, but more of a cheerleader to help expand who you are now into what you could be at max potential. — EPIK

P.S. I made a shi**y AI image on purpose...

Where do you pull inspiration from when music no longer inspires you?

Also when you're healed and non-toxic?😅
