Something nobody talks about when they talk about calling.

It costs you something. It costs you something from the beginning.

It costs you comfort. It costs you the approval of people who do not understand what you are building. It costs you the version of your life you thought you were going to have.

I left corporate America in 2018 and followed what God placed in me.

The yes was real and the cost was real. Both were true at the same time.
But what I know after everything that has come since then.
The thing God places in you is worth every bit of what it costs to carry it.

You have been saying it.

Paul said that. The man who wrote more of the New Testament than anyone else.
Who planted churches across the known world. Who was beaten, shipwrecked, stoned, and imprisoned for the Gospel.

That man said I die daily.

Which means the flesh did not stop being a daily fight just because he was spiritually mature.
Which means you are not failing at Christianity because you have to fight it every day.
Which means the church should have taught this a long time ago.

Can I be honest about something?

For years I knew all the right scriptures. I could tell you what the Bible says. I was in church consistently. I was serving.

And I kept having the same battle with the same thing over and over again.

Not because I wasn’t trying. Not because God wasn’t real. Because nobody had ever sat me down and taught me what the flesh actually is, how it actually operates, and what the Bible actually says about how to deal with it. Not manage it. Deal with it.

The church has been preaching about the flesh for decades. We haven’t been teaching it.

I believe someone reading this right now needs it just as much.
