In 1930, instead of demolishing the Indiana Bell Telephone Company building, engineers did the unthinkable—they moved the entire 22-million-pound, seven-story structure 52 feet and rotated it 90 degrees over the course of 34 days. But what’s truly mind-blowing? Utilities like gas, water, and phone lines stayed connected, and all 600 employees kept working as usual—without disruption.

The building was shifted using a system of hydraulic jacks, turntables, and steam-powered winches. Engineers meticulously designed the move to happen at just 15 inches per hour, allowing staircases, pipes, and wiring to bend and flex without snapping. This legendary relocation remains a masterclass in precision civil engineering and problem-solving—even a skyscraper-sized obstacle can be moved with enough planning.

At first glance, the Tesla Cybertruck (USA, 2023) and the dustbin containers used in India during the 1990s seem worlds apart in purpose and technology—but their boxy, utilitarian design creates an unexpected visual similarity. Both feature a simple, angular shape with flat surfaces and hard edges, giving them a rugged, industrial appearance. The Cybertruck’s stainless steel body and sharp lines resemble the plain, metal construction of old dustbins, which were built more for function than style. Ironically, a vehicle of the future and a basic waste container of the past share a common design language—minimalist, bold, and unmistakably geometric.
