Road Closure Update

SR269 bridge crossing the Ohio Turnpike in Groton Twp. has re-opened to traffic. Motorists on Portland Rd. should be aware of this due to high crash volumes at this intersection and be aware southbound traffic will now be approaching the intersection again with the bridge re-opened.

Bellevue Man Killed in Crash
On Wednesday, October 22, 2025 the Ohio State Patrol was called for an accident that occurred at CR 205 and CR 312 around 3:30 p.m. in Groton Township, Erie County, OH. The driver Bridget Strecker, 32, Bellevue, was driving a 2018 XT5 Cadillac when she failed to yield at a stop sign on CR 205. Steven Hay, 74, Bellevue, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet S10, he struck the Cadillac causing both vehicles to travel off the roadway. Hay was transported to Bellevue Hospital where he was confirmed deceased by the medical staff. Strecker was transported to Firelands Regional Medical Center for unknown injuries. No charges have been filed, and the accident remains under investigation.

On November 25, BES will host Careers on Display Day, giving our 4th and 5th grade students the chance to explore a wide variety of professions and connect directly with community members.

We’re looking for volunteers to host a table and share about their careers! Volunteers will set up in the cafeteria, showcase their profession, and speak with students as they rotate through.

5th Grade: 9:05 – 9:50 AM
4th Grade: 10:00 – 10:45 AM

Students will come prepared with questions and lots of curiosity! Our goal is to expose them to many different career paths and inspire their future dreams.
