No one talks enough about how hard the teenage years are for moms.

We spend years holding our sweet children, comforting them, fixing scraped knees, and mending broken toys. Then seemingly overnight we’re plunged into a world where our babies face struggles that we can’t fix with a hug. A world that doesn’t come with a transition warning or a manual. A world that often doesn’t make sense.

Watching your child pull away while still needing you is a bittersweet kind of heartbreak. It’s a shift like no other, and oftentimes we feel too ashamed or embarrassed to openly talk about the immense changes our families are going through.

Because even if we’re celebrating their growing independence, there is a quiet yet intense grieving for the little person they used to be.

Motherhood doesn’t get easier when they become teenagers - it becomes wildly different. The issues are deeper, the emotions are on overload, and it’s next to impossible not to take it all personally - when the bedroom doors close(or slam!), time with friends becomes paramount, and the ‘mommy’ that they once needed so fiercely seems like an afterthought.

No one talks about how hard the teenage years are for moms…but we should ❤️💔.
