Programs, resources, workshops… oh my!
Over the past several weeks, our regional Extension teams have come together to plan the programs, workshops, and resources coming to counties across Alabama in 2026.

This work starts early and is guided by community needs identified through our needs assessment survey, making sure what we offer truly serves Alabamians where they are.

A big thank you to every Extension agent, specialist, and assistant for the dedication and teamwork that make these valuable resources possible statewide.

The holiday season is a time to give back to communities with a joyful spirit. Jeremy Pickens, an assistant professor for Alabama Extension at Auburn University, embodied that spirit of holiday cheer by donating 200 Christmas trees through the Trees for Troops program.

Pickens said he was happy that trees originally planted for research could blossom into tokens of holiday happiness for military families.

Extension Master Gardener volunteer Edward Pate continues to inspire young gardeners in Conecuh County by teaching them when to plant, how crops grow, why pollinators matter, and how good fresh produce can taste.

Through the Grow More Give More program, the students have harvested and donated 100 pounds of produce this year. They’ll also enjoy the colorful lesson "Eat the Rainbow,” choosing different colors of fruits and vegetables for balanced nutrition, especially during the holidays.

Thank you to all of our Master Gardener volunteers and partners state wide for making gardening fun, educational, and delicious!

As autumn comes to a close, so does the 2025 crop season. Most Alabama farmers have completed harvest of the state’s primary crops — corn, cotton, peanuts and soybeans.

While agronomic crop agents with Alabama Extension at Auburn University anticipate final numbers will show an average year, they also received reports showing large variation between maximum and minimum yields.

About Us

The Alabama Cooperative Extension System provides educational outreach to the citizens of Alabama on behalf of the state's two land grant universities: Alabama A&M University (state's 1890 land-grant institution) and Auburn University (1862 land-grant institution).

The System employs more than 800 faculty, professional educators, and staff members operating in offices in every one of Alabama’s 67 counties and in nine urban centers covering the major regions of the state. In conjunction with the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station, the system also staffs six Extension and Research Centers located in the state’s principal geographic regions.
