05/01/25 - Candidates Forum - Auburn Enlarged City School District
On May 20th, voters across the state will be going to the polls to vote on school budgets, for Auburn that is a proposed $107 million budget as well as $7.2 million air handling referendum to deal with emergency needs at four of the five elementary schools.
The proposed budget does seek a 3.25% tax levy increase, slightly below the 3.78 % state mandated tax cap. Voters will also get to vote for candidates for their local school boards. In Auburn, the polls will be open from 7 AM to 9 PM.
You do not have to be a registered voter, but must be a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years old and have lived in the District for prior to 30 days to Election Day. Voters can vote at the Junior High and Casey Park, Owasco and Seward schools.
Three seats are up this May that of Daniel Lovell, James Van Arsdale and Danielle Woods and all are seeking re-election. A fourth seat is also to be filled for the remainder of the term of Board Member Freddie Wilson III who resigned last month.
Mr. Lovell and Mr. Van Arsdale are here now, joined by former Board Member William Andre and Frederick Cornelius.
Robert Harding, the Citizen’s Government & Politics Reporter of the Citizen, will be asking today’s questions.
