This week, funding for the California Film Commission's Film and Television Tax Credit Program was doubled—from $330 million to $750 million! Governor Newsom introduced key updates to keep production, below-the-line jobs and investments rooted in California 👏👏👏

Governor Newsom is more than doubling the state’s Film and Television Tax Credit Program, and adding 16 new television projects that will generate $1.1 billion in new economic activity.

On April 28 this year, the Assembly Revenue & Taxation Committee voted 6–1 in favor of AB1138, a major milestone in the fight to modernize California’s Film & Television Tax Incentives. This critical vote moves the bill to Appropriations and keeps momentum alive for thousands of jobs across our state. This bill, authored by Assemblymember Rick Zbur, raises the film tax credit from 25% up to 40%, expands eligibility for more genres, supports independent filmmakers, and prioritizes filming outside Los Angeles, helping smaller cities and rural communities. 🎥 Watch the full Assembly Rev & Tax Committee hearing and support the movement.
