Ann Philbin is awarded the 2025 Getty Prize!

Philbin chose NPR for the Getty Prize's accompanying $500,000 pay-it-forward grant. The funds will be split between NPR, KCRW, and LAist.

Philbin was director of the Hammer Museum for 25 years, where she helped launch major programs like its Made in L.A. biennial and Hammer Projects. She is recognized internationally for elevating artists of all backgrounds and is an advocate for free expression.

The Getty Prize is the institution's highest honor. It recognizes cultural leaders whose work expands human understanding and appreciation of arts and culture.
