“My Wave” was released as the fourth single from Soundgarden’s fifth studio album, Superunknown, 27 years ago during October 1994. Chris and Kim wrote the music for “My Wave” with Chris crafting the lyrics.

The time signature for “My Wave” varies throughout the song, but the primary groove is in 5/4 time. The guitar strings are tuned (from low to high) EEBBBE.

The video for “My Wave”
was co-directed by Doug Pray of Hype! documentary fame, as well as Ben’s brother, Henry Shepherd. Henry’s friendship with all of the band members precedes the formation of Soundgarden and he was also formerly housemates with Kim.

The film footage is of a live performance by the band in Calgary, Alberta along with kids riding their classic Sting-Rays. The blue guy is another band buddy, Matt “the Tube” Crowley from the Jim Rose Circus Sideshow. He’s riding in his classic ‘66 Mustang!
