Equal Political Airtime for a Candidate! After fielding a few calls on this today. Let me Clear these Muddy water for ya. NO MEDIA outlet Has to inform ANY candidate that their competitors were on any broadcast! As a broadcaster.. I do not have to invite or inform a candidate of Anything. It's 100% up to A candidate to call or write a station to request Fair & Equal air time... And if the time was paid for by xyz... Then the other candidate can chose to purchase air time...No free stuff! BTW Political air time has to be offered at the stations lowest advertising rate that's been paid by any station client. (There's a timeline for this- called the Political Window) Many station will lie and jack up Political rates... if they ever got caught by the FCC ...It could be very ugly and very expensive for the Broadcaster.
