Liberty will host a media briefing from 12:30-1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, to share information about a planned regional transmission project.

This briefing will be held ahead of an open house, scheduled for the same day, for landowners who live along the proposed route for the new 345 kV transmission line and rebuilt 161 kV transmission line, to be built within existing easements from the Missouri/Oklahoma state line to near Branson.

During the briefing, Liberty representatives will provide a brief overview of the project and the construction timeline. They will discuss routing considerations and share benefits customers can expect from the project.

The open house for landowners along the proposed route will be from 4-6 p.m. on June 9. Both the media briefing and open house will be held at Aurora Recreation Center, 126 W. Hadley St., Aurora.

The Southwest Power Pool, which manages the grid for much of the central United States, directed Liberty and other utilities to develop this major project in response to grid reliability challenges experienced during Winter Storms Uri (2021) and Elliott (2022).

It includes the construction of approximately 316 miles of high-voltage 345 kV transmission lines, stretching from Southern Kansas through Northeast Oklahoma and into Southwest Missouri and the Ozarks.

In Missouri, the multi-year effort will add approximately 90 miles of 345 kV lines and rebuild or convert 79 miles of 161 kV lines across Liberty’s electric service area — strengthening the Midwest electric grid and supporting more reliable service for years to come.

Additional landowner meetings are set for Wednesday, June 10, in Pierce City, and in Reeds Spring on Thursday, June 11.

Representative Eric Burlison (MO-07) announced a districtwide Constituent Services Week taking place June 1 through June 5, with stops across Missouri’s 7th Congressional District.

During this week, Burlison’s staff will be available in person to assist constituents with casework at federal agencies, including issues related to the Internal Revenue Service, Social Security, Medicare, veterans’ benefits, immigration, the Small Business Administration, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, passports, and other federal services.

Staff will be available at each location from 12-3 p.m., and no appointment is required.
