I am a mixed-media artist living in Aurora, Colorado. When I began my art career over 25 years ago, I worked in a realistic style in watercolor and oils. Eventually, my work evolved into a more abstract style and led to my work with textures, collages, and fluid acrylic paints. I am a certified Art Educator with Golden Paints. I have taught thousands of artists in workshops around the United States for over 20 years. To expand learning opportunities for students to learn my techniques, I established Carol Nelson Mixed Media Art School at Teachable.com, where students can purchase my online video workshops, some of which are paid, and others are free. Carol's passion is experimenting with mixed media materials and creating her vision of the world around her. Deeply inspired by the Rocky Mountains near Denver, her work has evolved into a more abstract style and led her to working with textures, collage, and fluid acrylic paints. She is a certified Art Educator with Golden Paints. After more than 20 years of teaching, it is always a thrill for her to hear how her instruction has changed the lives of so many artists around the country.

It’s smooth, safe, and easy to decorate around, but you've also got to love spaces that shake things up with color, texture, or something unexpected.

Today's Feature: “CLOUD KISS, 062318”

This abstract collage features two kinds of hand embellished paper - faux leather paper, and, for lack of a better term, "squiggle" paper made with polymer medium. There is also a piece of lose weave burlap.

I like the neutral palette of this piece and the interesting textures.

This painting can be hung either framed or unframed in a vertical presentation (as shown) or a horizontal presentation.
