I am a mixed-media artist living in Aurora, Colorado. When I began my art career over 25 years ago, I worked in a realistic style in watercolor and oils. Eventually, my work evolved into a more abstract style and led to my work with textures, collages, and fluid acrylic paints. I am a certified Art Educator with Golden Paints. I have taught thousands of artists in workshops around the United States for over 20 years. This mixed media painting is somewhat of an unstructured geologic abstract with a lot of texture. I like the very dramatic colors and value shifts from black to white. The design wraps around the sides. This little collage (15"x6") was just me messing around in my studio. I call it Walk in the Woods III. (Click to see whole painting). When I was growing up, we had a cabin on a lake (almost everyone had a cabin on a lake in Minnesota). My mom and I would often take a walk around the lake - maybe 2 miles. There was barely a path in some areas, swampy in areas, a gravel road in others, and heavily wooded. I remember the smell of damp earth, mosses, mushrooms, ferns, butterflies, birds, ducks, and all manner of green plants. This collection of collage materials from my stash brings to mind some of those cabin memories.
