‘She got in trouble’: Group of 5 kept woman confined for months outside in rusty handcuffs and punished her with BB gun shootings when she misbehaved, police say……….
Five people in the Texas Hill Country are behind bars after a half-nude and injured woman was rescued from months of involuntary confinement, according to law enforcement in the Lone Star State. Michelle Garcia, 51, Crystal Garcia, 21, Mache Carney, 32, Juan Pablo Castro, 30, and Maynard Lefevers, 21, stand accused of one count each of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, injury to the elderly or disabled with intentional bodily harm, and unlawful restraint, the Austin Police Department announced in a press release last week.

On Oct. 30, officers responded to a welfare check request marked “urgent” at a residence on Bitter Creek Drive in South Austin.

There, the alleged victim was found outside the house and handcuffed to what police described as “a piece of exercise equipment.” Responding officers worked to remove the woman from her predicament with assistance from local EMS and firefighters. Ultimately, authorities said they had to cut through “heavy metal links” in order to release her safely due to “the condition of the restraints.”

“The woman showed signs of physical distress and had visible injuries consistent with prolonged restraint,” police said in the press release. “The woman told officers she had been held at the residence for several months and was not allowed to leave.” After the woman was released, she was taken to a nearby hospital for “evaluation and treatment,” according to law enforcement. She is said to have remained under medical supervision as of last Thursday, though her current status and location is not presently known.

Mastermind plotted to lure real estate agent to fake home showing where suspects stuffed her into a U-Haul, murdered her in alley…….
Prosecutors in Minnesota have convicted the fourth and final defendant in a plot to lure a real estate agent to a house showing only to kidnap her in the back of a U-Haul and murder her in an alley. A jury on Monday found 40-year-old Lyndon Wiggins guilty of aiding or abetting first-degree murder, aiding or abetting first-degree attempted murder, aiding or abetting kidnapping to commit great bodily harm and aiding or abetting first-degree murder while committing the crime of kidnapping. Wiggins and three others tricked 28-year-old real estate agent Monique Baugh on New Year’s Eve 2019 into hosting a house showing before kidnapping and murdering her.

This is the second time a jury convicted Wiggins as the Minnesota Supreme Court ordered a retrial for him and his girlfriend and co-defendant over an error in jury instructions.

Wiggins and Baugh’s boyfriend had a falling out while working at a record label. Wiggins had his girlfriend, Elsa Segura, call Baugh from a burner phone while posing as a prospective home buyer named “Lisa Powalski.”A jury on Monday found 40-year-old Lyndon Wiggins guilty of aiding or abetting first-degree murder, aiding or abetting first-degree attempted murder, aiding or abetting kidnapping to commit great bodily harm and aiding or abetting first-degree murder while committing the crime of kidnapping. • Immigration officers arrested a teacher in Chicago after chasing her into the grounds of a private preschool and grabbing her as parents and students looked on, according to a local official, witnesses and video footage of the incident.

Several parents said they were waiting to drop off their children at Rayito de Sol, a Spanish immersion day care and school, when they saw armed officers in black vests with the words “POLICE ICE” run behind the woman and into the lobby of the building. Witnesses and school employees told The Post they thought the school was under attack and scrambled into rooms and vehicles outside in search of safety.

A mom in Michigan who allegedly set her house on fire with her children inside, leading to the death of her 12-year-old daughter, has been found competent to stand trial for the “shockingly cruel” arson attack after being deemed incompetent twice.
Roconda Singleton, 46, of Grand Rapids, was found competent Tuesday after being deemed incompetent in May and again in August, according to MLive.com. The judge overseeing her case acknowledged that Singleton has a history of mental health problems and is willingly receiving treatment while behind bars awaiting trial for the January incident, local ABC affiliate WZZM reports.
Singleton’s Oct. 16 competency report said that Singleton was able to discuss her charges and understood the possible consequences, as well as the court process, according to WZZM.
“Based on the report that was issued, the court will find that the defendant is competent to stand trial,” the Kent County judge said.
“[Singleton will] continue to receive medication to maintain her competency,” the judge added. Singleton is accused of “meticulously” removing all seven of her smoke detectors from her home before dousing the place in lighter fluid and setting it ablaze, according to Grand Rapids Police Department officials. She allegedly wanted to kill herself and her three children in the fire.

“I want to say that she should be locked up for life for killing my sister,” Singleton’s 10-year-old daughter, who survived, told local NBC affiliate WOOD in January after her 12-year-old sibling, Shamiya Stewart, died from injuries suffered in the fire.

“Everybody was trying to save my mom and she just wanted to lay down on her bed while her room was lighted up with fire,” the child said. “And she did not want to go but she finally came out. She wouldn’t tell where [Shamiya] was, so I had to keep leading them to my sister.”

Singleton, who is charged with first-degree arson and three counts of second-degree child abuse, allegedly set her house on fire after placing the smoke detectors in her backyard. More than 40 firefighters from 13 different units responded to the blaze as it tore through Singleton’s home “very rapidly,” according to local officials.

City leaders convened a special council meeting Tuesday night after two separate public safety incidents this week raised concerns about downtown security: a late-night shooting on the 300 block of West 73rd Street and a viral brawl near the Texas Street Bridge in the early hours of Saturday.

Just after 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, the Shreveport Police Department responded to reports of gunfire on West 73rd Street. Officers found one person shot in the side and rushed to Ochsner’s with life-threatening injuries. No suspects have been identified or arrested in the shooting.

On Saturday, bystanders captured a 2 a.m. fight that erupted near the Texas Street Bridge, prompting renewed calls for a stronger law-enforcement presence. At Tuesday’s session, Councilman Grayson Boucher urged officials to “take some officers out of an 8 to 5 job and put them in downtown for a little bit,” echoing public demands for visible patrols to deter late-night disturbances.

Police Chief Wayne Smith acknowledged interagency assistance from the City Marshall’s Office, Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Department and Louisiana State Police—nine troopers alone patrolled downtown last Friday. He reported more than 20 officers on the ground over the weekend and said units were on scene within two minutes and thirty seconds of the brawl call. Smith warned, however, that reallocating detectives to curbside patrols could leave fewer investigators available for violent-crime and burglary probes.

Council Chair Tabitha Taylor pressed the administration to review existing public safety budgets and explore increased state supplemental pay and federal grants. She also demanded arrests for those seen in the video, citing simple battery, disturbing the peace and obstructing a public roadway. Councilwoman Ursula Bowman expanded the scope, noting Halloween-night fights citywide and proposing a curfew for minors to address underage disturbances beyond downtown.

Just after midnight on Wednesday, Atlanta police responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting in the hallway of Bethel Towers Apartments at 210 Auburn Avenue NE, located in the Sweet Auburn historic district. According to Lt. Christopher Butler of the Atlanta Police Department, the call came in shortly after midnight, alerting officers to an exchange of gunfire between two men in the building’s common corridor.

Paramedics arrived on scene and transported a 39-year-old man to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Within minutes, a second man, also suffering multiple gunshot wounds, walked into Grady on his own. Police believe this second victim was directly involved in the same incident and remains in stable but critical condition.

Investigators say the shooting stemmed from either an argument or an attempted robbery that escalated in the hallway. Witnesses reported hearing several shots before the victims were separated—one collapsing inside the building and the other reaching the hospital on foot. It is not yet clear whether the surviving victim will face charges.

Officers remained at the Bethel Towers Apartments into the morning, canvassing for witnesses and collecting evidence. Key details under review include:

The sequence of shots fired in the enclosed hallway

The nature of the dispute or robbery attempt

Potential surveillance footage from the apartment complex

Atlanta police urge anyone with information to contact the department’s homicide unit. The inquiry is ongoing as detectives work to reconstruct the events that led to the deadly confrontation.

• 📍Islamorada, Florida
Deputies say a 23-year-old man Christopher Brinkley Smithers from Great Falls, Virginia — one of D.C.’s richest suburbs — went full throttle in the Florida Keys, topping 122 MPH in a rented Range Rover before crashing in Islamorada.

It all started when he nearly sideswiped a deputy in Key Largo. Instead of taking a sobriety test, he hit the gas — flying down U.S. 1, tearing across the shoulder, sidewalk, and even through Founders Park, losing a tire along the way.

The chase ended after troopers spun him out near mile marker 87, sending the SUV into a brand new $250,000 trailered boat.

Now he’s sitting in the Plantation Key jail with no bond, facing DUI and fleeing charges — and a whole lot of explaining to do.

For the first time in 13 years, Democrats broke the GOP supermajority in Mississippi’s Senate — ending one-party control. Johnny DuPree (SD-45) and Theresa Gillespie Isom (SD-2) flipped key Senate seats. And in the House, Justin Crosby (HD-22) flipped a Republican seat, building even more momentum statewide. Now, every Mississippian’s voice has a real chance to be heard.
