THIS is the hip hop many of us fell in love with! It was about positivity, pride, and uplifting. Yeah, they were also talking about some of the negative things they were experiencing in the world, but they were talking about how to fight against& OVERCOME those negative things… not promoting them. This was the golden era of hip hop… and the industry realized that we were getting “too enlightened and empowered”… so they introduced “gangsta rap”… and began flooding the world with images of the guns, drugs, over -sexualization of black youth, and the blatant respect of women. That’s when hip hop culture started to decline. Even though it became more widespread and more of the world came to know about it… it lost its soul. Today, whats popularized is mainly destructive trash… exactly what the industry power brokers wanted.

Let’s demand that hip hop returns to THIS - U.N.I.T.Y., positivity, pride, partying, fighting against oppression, uplifting our communities… and not accept anything else!
