When Kingdom Collapse wrote "Survivor," they hoped it would inspire listeners facing difficult battles. They never imagined one fan's story would forever change the meaning of the song.
Jonathan Norris and Aaron Smith join LA Lloyd on the Rock 30 to discuss the emotional impact of "Survivor," the responsibility that comes with writing deeply personal music, and why genuine connection with fans continues to drive the band forward.
It's a conversation about resilience, purpose, and the moments that remind artists why they create music.

More than two decades after Page Avenue introduced Story Of The Year to the world, the band continues to evolve while staying true to the passion that first connected with fans.
Dan Marsala joins LA Lloyd on the Rock 30 to discuss the new single "Disconnected," how fatherhood has changed life on and off the stage, songs that took years to become fan favorites, and why this chapter has become one of the most creatively fulfilling of the band's career.

Rock stars change music.

The greatest ones change people.

Billy Morrison shared this unforgettable story about the moment Ozzy Osbourne encouraged him to pick up a paintbrush instead of a guitar—and how that single moment unlocked a talent he never knew he had.

A side of Ozzy that deserves to be remembered.

Some messages stop you in your tracks.

I received this from a listener named Pam today. It’s a humbling reminder that radio is about so much more than playing songs.

Hi, L.A.,

My husband and I have been fans from day one. No matter where we are, we stream KMOD on iHeart.

Friday morning, my husband fell. We thought it was a stroke, but it turned out to be a massive brain tumor. We’re now in the ICU waiting for surgery, and the staff gave us special permission to put the Rock 30 on speaker.

So here we sit… waiting patiently, one song at a time, debating who will be No. 1 this week.

I’m 62, my husband is 65, and the joy you bring through your radio show and interviews has become such an important part of our lives.

We don’t know what each day holds, but as long as we’re here, everyone will know what we’re doing during the Rock 30.

Rock on, L.A. ❤️

— Pam

Pam, thank you for trusting me with your story.

If you believe in the power of prayer, I would be grateful if you would keep Pam, her husband, and their family in your prayers.

Sometimes we’re reminded that radio doesn’t just entertain—it becomes part of someone’s story.

I’m grateful beyond words to everyone who has welcomed the Rock 30 into their lives over the past 26 years.

New episodes of Rock 30 are released every Monday.

Sometimes it isn't the guitar that changes your life...

It's the person who gave it to you.

Ryan Perdz shares the story on this weekend's Rock 30. ❤️🎸

Why do some of the most emotional songs never actually say what they're about?

Ryan Perdz shares an interesting perspective on why grunge music connected with so many people—and why those songs still resonate today.

After nearly three decades together, Theory of a Deadman isn't interested in repeating the past. In his 18th appearance on Rock 30, Tyler Connolly shares why the band's new chapter is driven by creative freedom—from embracing EPs as "small batches of Kentucky bourbon" to making music on the band's own terms rather than following the traditional album cycle.
Tyler also dives into the stories behind Part 1: Funeral Songs, including the surprisingly relatable inspiration for "Winnebago (Lay Low)" and the emotional meaning behind "Barricade." Along the way, he reflects on nearly 30 years with the same bandmates, what younger bands are teaching him, life after leaving a major label, and why he actually sleeps better on a tour bus than at home.
It's an honest, funny, and revealing conversation with one of Rock 30's most frequent guests—and proof that some bands continue to evolve without ever losing who they are.
