Wishing Well Apple Disappearance *Solved*.
Our Wishing Well mystery disappearance from Apple has been solved. Our streams increased significantly due to my being put, with my permission, into a fairly large playlist (about 4.5 hours, 76 songs) long. Apple iTunes flagged it for artificial streaming.
It wasn’t artificial streaming. The playlist was put together by a human and there were no bots involved.
Apple took our song down and there’s no getting it back up on their platform.
It feels unfair to me, but what can I do except try to learn something from it. What’s the takeaway here -- be careful with Apple. Steady growth, but be wary of anything that might cause peaks like big playlists that are played daily or close to it. It seemed like a good thing to me, but now, not so much.
The strange thing is I think we were the only one from the playlist that got flagged. That could have been because our stream count is fairly low across Apple, so the increase seemed more significant. I’m guessing, I don’t know.
I've been pondering whether to post about this and decided to as just an FYI. Maybe take away my takeaway.
