“SWEAT” might be only a week and a half old to the world, but it’s been on a journey — and today, I woke up feeling extra emo and grateful, so I want to tell you its story. —-
SWEAT was one of the first tracks I made after moving to NYC in 2024. I was going out to these insane underground warehouse parties, inspired by the raw, grungy energy of it all — and that’s where the idea for SWEAT was born. (You can hear the very first idea on slide 3.)
Over time, I kept chipping away at it — but the real magic happened when I found a community of like-minded producers: people who were just as hungry to learn, create, and grow. Being surrounded by them made me a better producer every day. countless late nights, all locked into our headphones, grinding away on our own stuff. Having community in music is invaluable.
Then enters Matt Weix — Matt became the second heart behind this project. He cared just as much as I did about getting SWEAT to sound its absolute best. He went through what felt like 50 different versions of the mix and master — showing up to my shows, listening to it on big speakers, and making immediate notes to tweak the mix after.
(There’s even a video of him making mix tweaks an hour before my Seismic set)
And that’s just the audio side — bringing the visual world of SWEAT to life was a whole other chapter, pulling in talented friends to help build something that felt complete.
All this to say: so much goes into the 2–3 minutes song that you hear. It’s months of production work, then tweaks of the mix/master, then creating a visual identity and world that the track has to live in. its a lot — but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
This is the greatest form of expression for me, and sharing it alongside some of my best friends makes it even better.
