It was a joy to be a part of Meaningful XR in Portland, Oregon at the end of May. Our Director, Erin Reilly joined fellow IXA members Pat Clark Media and Jonathan David Martin to share our findings from our national expansion of Social Impact BuildFest.

Social Impact BuildFest started as a dream to help technology feel accessible to students who have no experience and allow them to be a part of creating projects for social change. What a celebration this year has been to see that dream grow from our own lab space to taking place at universities across the country!

We know this is just the beginning.

Throwing it back to our on campus field trip with Escape the Box® ! Mark and Aris developed a campus specific experience for our Audience Development and Engagement. We had a blast discovering the tools and immersing ourselves in the narrative they created for us.

We love putting our students in the seat of the audience and testing out different experiences around town.

We are so excited that our experience, Dream Terminal, will be a permanent installation at ! It was been a great semester working with their team. This experience started as a collaboration with in our Experimental Storytelling class and was brought to fruition thanks to the hard work and dedication from and .

Throwing it back to the rose that rose from the rubble 🌹

Shortlisted for the 2023 Yugo BAFTA Student Awards, Roses of the Rubble takes us into an alternate Austin where surveillance controls everything and Valens powers a fragile world on the edge. Hidden beneath it all, Trixi’s Quarter becomes the heart of resistance. Led by Damon and Trixi, audiences were invited to step inside the story and help assemble BEN-i, an automaton built to take down Nox Corp from within.

Created in partnership with ZEPETO and brought to life by the graduating class of the Texas Immersive Institute at The University of Texas at Austin, this two night experience blended live theater, escape room mechanics, and immersive technology into a fully interactive world.

Our very first Immersive Storycorps project was premiered on the CMA courtyard this Spring. It was so fun to see the work come alive and share with the UT students

The TXI LaunchPad is a cornhole-meets-arcade pop-up that turns course discovery into an immersive experience. It is now a permanent installation in our lab.

Happy Summer Vacation students! ☀️

We are so proud of all the work you did this year and hope you stay curious this summer on all your adventures.

Our staff will be working hard this summer finishing projects, traveling to conferences and showing off all the innovative work that happened in the lab this year. We’re also cooking up some fun for next year and look forward to our community coming back together in August.

Everybody wants this… and our students built it. 🎓✨ Watching this group walk in at the start of the year and now seeing what they’ve created - an immersive, innovative showcase that stopped everyone in their tracks - is exactly why we do what we do. So incredibly proud of each and every one of them. This is their moment, and they earned it. 🔥
