Latina Leadership Podcast The podcast by Latinas for all women💜
Founded by Anjelica Cazares in 2020.

They told us the history books were complete. They were not.

On the Texas Road Trip, Anjelica sat down inside the Mexican American Civil Rights Institute in San Antonio (Mexican American Civil Rights Institute - MACRI) with its Executive Director, historian Dr. Sarah Zenaida Gould. They talked about why San Antonio is the cradle of Mexican American civil rights, how the Mexican Revolution shaped the city's West Side, and why Mexican Americans had to fight, in courtrooms and at the ballot box, for rights the law already promised them in 1848.

The part that stays with you: speaking up for yourself is not complaining. It is advocating, for yourself and for your comunidad.

Which piece of your own community's history do you wish you had been taught in school?

If you're scrolling tonight and Monday already feels heavy, stay with us.

Finding someone who feels motivated on a Monday is rare. The most consistent women we know aren't the most fired up at the start of the week. They stopped waiting to feel ready and just moved.

Tonight, rest like it matters. Descanso isn't what you earn after a good week. It's what makes the week possible. Tomorrow, go straight to the task you've been avoiding since Friday. Start smaller than you think you need to.

The ganas builds as you move, they always do but we're here to keep pushing you forward amiga.

Freedom became the law in 1863, but it didn't reach Texas until two and a half years later. That gap between what's written and what's lived is worth sitting with, not just for what it says about 1865, but for what it still says now.

This history carries more of our own comunidad and the ongoing fight for equality and freedom.

Before the big match today we'll take a quick cooling break to tell you that this World Cup is the best opportunity for your business.
Save it, then send it to the amiga building something right now. (Also Mexico Campeón! 💚🤍❤️)

You trained for years to become one thing. Then the path bent somewhere you never planned for. Sound familiar, amiga?

Dr. Erika Cavazos started as a physician in Mexico. When she moved to Texas she landed in a public health department, and from there she kept following her curiosity into graduate school, into a hospital administration role, and finally into a field most people cannot even define: biomedical informatics. Today she teaches it as faculty at the same university where she once sat as a student.

Manifestation gets a lot of attention these days.

But the biggest things we've built didn't come from manifestation alone.

Back in 2020, when the idea for the podcast first came to Anjelica, she wasn't waiting for the perfect moment.

She was showing up every day for a vision that didn't exist yet.

And the drive was simple, it was an obsession with creating a platform where Latinas could see themselves in the stories of leaders, entrepreneurs, and changemakers.

Because manifestation gives you direction. But obsession gives you momentum.

So amigas, what are you obsessed with building right now?

Patty Kirby came up through the 2008 crash, opened Madison Avenue Marketing Agency in 2019, and watched her little Laredo business grow right through the year the whole world shut down.

But the part of this conversation that stopped us was not the business. It was what she said about her son leaving for college, and the question she is finally letting herself ask out loud: who am I, and what do I want for this next chapter? No mom guilt. No permission needed. Just choice.

When was the last time you stopped and asked yourself what you actually want next?

Patty Kirby owns Madison Avenue Marketing Agency, one of the first female owned agencies in Laredo, a city she says won the geographic lottery on the border. She came up through the 2008 crash, opened her doors in 2019, and watched the business grow right through the years everyone told her it should have closed.

Seven years in, she has the receipts and the canas to prove it. In this episode she shows you how to lead without treating every deadline like a crisis, why collaboration beats competition for small agencies, and what it actually feels like to start over when your only child leaves home.

We built this platform because we believe in you, we believe in your business, your ideas and your dreams. For us the most important lesson is this reminder "Unidas we grow stronger" because no matter where we're from, there's one thing that unite us, somos latinas y somos poderosas.

This pride month we want to celebrate all latinas, those amigas who fill our lives with color and magia. Because our power lies in our diversity and the special perspective each one of you bring to the table.

We see you and love you.
