On August 26, a glacier collapse in the mountains near the Nepal–China border triggered a massive flash flood down the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river valleys. Water levels reportedly rose nearly 30 feet in just half an hour, sweeping away homes, roads, and bridges — the worst damage in Rasuwa district, with flooding reaching further downstream into Nuwakot and Dhading.
