This is what a legacy really means in the context of agriculture, passing down the family land to the next generation. And it also forces you to think and reflect on the next generation you plan to give the reigns over to.

Justin said if perfectly, he can feel the connectedness to the land he now stewards, the same land his father and grandfather stewarded.

I hear this all the time from farmers how they can feel the presence of their ancestors when out working on the land, even if they never actually met in person. All the stories and knowledge passed down from generation to generation brings even more of a human connection, which makes generational homesteads/farms/ranches so incredible.

I have not bought pork from a grocery store in YEARS. It’s all very pale colored, taste is NOTHING like true pastured pork, and it would make me feel like crap. One big reason is the pork in grocery stores comes from very stressed out pigs that don’t like in their natural environment.

Bryson explains how PSE develops, not good! I have visited so many pig farmers the last few months and it’s incredible and incredibly sad how different grocery stores pork is compared to true pastured pork.

People seem to be fine paying $3-5 everyday for coffee or an energy drink, going out having a few beers. But the moment they see price for raw dairy, it’s as if the farmer is trying to take advantage of the customer (could not be further from the truth). Visit a raw dairy farm and you’ll quickly learn how costly it is to produce such liquid gold! And the more expensive price usually reflects that.

Not even taking into consideration the nutrient density of a gallon of raw milk.

Was crazy to see Jordan’s dam he built up the side of a mountain along with the forest pigs he has in the surrounding area.

But wait I thought farmers were just these dumb hillbilly hicks? Another reason I continue to say shake the hand that feeds yiu, their ingenuity is something I will always admire. Farming forces you to just figure it out.

There are a multitude of reasons why it is good to be mobile like givjng you the flexibility to adjust your herd size, paddocks, how often you are rotating based off of weather, the regrowth of each paddock, etc.

And having everything mobile such as water, shade, and chicken coops makes this whole process run much more smoothly.

One benefit of managing multi-species AND rotational grazing is managing parasite load.

Parasites can be a major problem, especially if you are managing land that has been conventionally managed or the pastures have just been left barren. When the health of the land is poor paired with weather, it can really affect everything, especially the animals you are raising.

Over a long enough time horizon, regenerative agriculture can help rebuild soil health, thus attracting natural wildlife that helps with the symbiotic relationship of all life within a pasture (soil biology, plants, insects, birds, bees, livestock, etc). So finding ways to manage parasite like what Rehoboth does is awesome, while also improving the land they steward!
