It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our founder, Heath (Donell) Creech. He was a visionary and pioneer in the Austin business and media industry, creating or helping create businesses, events, and organizations you may not have known he was involved with.

Heath was committed to his family, friends, colleagues, and all who crossed his path. He will truly be missed by us and all who knew and loved him.

Please help us in honoring his memory by sharing a fond memory of Heath in the comments.

Good luck to soulcitizen Monique Walton as Sing Sing heads to the Oscars! We profiled Monique last year and are thrilled to see her getting the recognition she deserves. The film’s lead, Domingo Coleman, is up for Best Actor, and critics agree Sing Sing was more than worthy of Best Picture and Cinematography nominations. We’re celebrating this incredible achievement and sending Monique all the love. Shine bright, sis! 👏🏿

Issa Rae just pulled out of her sold-out Kennedy Center event, calling out an “infringement of values” after Trump named himself chairman and cleaned house. And she’s not the only one—Shonda Rhimes, Ben Folds, and opera legend Renée Fleming have also walked away, making it clear they won’t co-sign an agenda that tries to reshape the arts to fit a political narrative.

For decades, the Kennedy Center has been a stage for bold storytelling, diverse voices, and artistic freedom. But now with its new leadership promising to make it “not woke,” that legacy is at risk.

Art is meant to challenge, inspire, and tell the full, unfiltered truth—not be controlled by corrupt politicians. Thank you, Issa, for taking a stand. ✊🏿
