Introducing you to Pretty Something. Today marks my first solo release since 2017 and this project is really about the sound of learning to live with yourself. The songs came out of pain, but they have also brought me back to joy. While this is both terrifyingly vulnerable and exciting, I wanted to make something that could hold both, the heaviness and the hope, and maybe give people a little light while they’re figuring it out too.

The Pretty Something self-titled debut EP will drop on January 23, 2026 and the first single “Get Out (Or In My Own Way)” is out now. Listen via link in bio!

To cap off an exciting week, we’ve got one more announcement to make. This February, Texas Heritage Songwriters Association is honored to present the 2026 Darrell K Royal Texas Music Legend Award to Lisa and Freddy Fletcher of Arlyn Studios in Austin.

This award celebrates those who have provided recognition and support to songwriters and those who have had careers providing award-winning entertainment throughout the world. University of Texas Coach Darrell Royal, the original recipient of the Texas Music Legend Award, spent years supporting and honoring songwriters, and TXHSA is proud to carry the spirit of his efforts forward in his name. For over four decades, Arlyn Studios has been a go-to recording studio for the Austin music scene, and we are excited to present this award to Lisa and Freddy at the Hall of Fame Show.

Happy Birthday to our favorite guy, Charlie Sexton ❤️

Happy birthday, Charlie Sexton! Can you name anyone in the Austin scene as beloved, as talented, as prolific, as badass as Charlie? We'll wait...

Before he was even a teenager, he was already a part of the Austin music scene, and honorary uncle Speedy Sparks told him he needed to invest in an electric guitar. “We took a .22 pump rifle down to a pawn shop somewhere downtown, and traded it in for a little cash for an electric guitar," Charlie recalled later. "I got on stage and played it that night. I didn’t know how to tune it, I didn’t know what keys were, I just played it by ear. That gave me a lot of drive to figure it all out.”

When he serendipitously showed up at Arlyn Studios during sessions for “The Last Real Texas Blues Album,” we were elated to watch him jump on a Big Joe Turner track with Jivin’ Gene. We can’t wait for y'all to hear it.
