Jugging Arrests & Multi-Agency Coordination
On Wednesday, September 17th, Round Rock Police Department responded to a reported vehicle burglary at a local gas station. After speaking with the victim, officers quickly learned this was not just a vehicle burglary—it was a jugging. The victim had been followed from Chase Bank on La Frontera Blvd.
Using Flock Safety and traffic cameras, officers identified the suspect vehicle. While it was displaying a freshly stolen license plate, further LPR review confirmed it was actually a rental vehicle already under investigation by Pflugerville PD and Fulshear PD.
Thanks to outstanding coordination between Round Rock PD, Houston PD, Pflugerville PD, Fulshear PD, and Highland Park PD, the suspect vehicle was located, and two suspects were taken into custody on September 18th. These arrests are now helping agencies connect similar jugging cases across Texas. Investigations are still ongoing.
New Jugging Law in Effect: As of September 1, 2025, jugging is now its own criminal offense under Texas law. Offenders can face enhanced penalties if they target someone after leaving a bank, ATM, or other financial institution.
This case highlights the importance of strong partnerships across law enforcement and the effectiveness of new tools like Flock cameras.
Please stay alert, watch your surroundings when leaving banks or ATMs, and report suspicious behavior as soon as you can.
