Friday's forecast just flipped to a 75% rain chance and Saturday is sold out, but Friday and Sunday single-day tickets are back on sale at $170. It's landing right as Austin's own airport wraps its 3rd-busiest year on record and waits on a $5 billion, 32-gate expansion just to keep the rest of us moving.

A 300-foot tower was just filed for a lot in West Campus that's been home to a small, aging apartment complex since 1982 — and it would tie the neighborhood's current tallest building, two blocks away.

Nothing's approved yet (the filing is two days old), but we pulled the actual city records to see what's proposed, and why 300 feet is the exact number developers keep landing on near UT.

We pulled the public records near Travis Heights and Zilker: 604 and 904 construction permits in two years, four commercial site plans on South Congress, and a FEMA Zone AE flood area within half a mile of both spots, even though both spots themselves map as minimal hazard.

Nine new apartment buildings just got permitted in one day at Easton Park, the huge master-planned community out in Southeast Austin's Bluff Springs neighborhood — 312,422 square feet, filed with the city on September 25.

A lion dance opens the Mid-Autumn Festival at noon. Dogs take over Mueller Lake Park until 12:30. There's a fully air-conditioned archeology fair on UT's campus if the heat gets to you. And if you're a vintage shopper, 80+ vendors set up at Palmer Events Center.
