“We’ll do everything humanly possible to find your daughters,” Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick vowed as rescuers search for 23 missing girls from Camp Mystic. Flash floods in Central Texas have killed at least 10 and left devastation in their wake.

Authorities stressed the numbers are evolving, but the latest figures put the death toll at up to 10 with approximately 23 children from a local summer camp still “unaccounted for.”

Despite Texas' growing population, 58 percent of public school districts have seen their enrollment fall between 2019 and 2024. In contrast, charter schools have grown by nearly 30 percent.

More than half of Texas public schools are experiencing a decline in enrollment, with charter schools emerging as the leading alternative for families.
