New BBQ joint alert! has taken over The Pit on Burnet. It has a been designed and renovated - inside and out - by ! And new pit master / co-owner is turning out the highest level of smoked meat magic. Let’s just say it tastes as good as the place looks!

Big re-opening party tomorrow! Drop by for a beer. If you can’t make it this weekend come in for lunch next week. This place is Beef and Pie approved. 🏆🥩👍

Wrapped up like a 3-banded armadillo we finished filming a whole new campaign of ads for Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center! It’s part production, part reunion, bringing together our favorite Houston crew and doing it for a good cause.

That’s like trying to touch your elbow to your ear. Why don’t you just go to 316 Congress where you’ll find this sticker and the location of the austin music venue that begat them all! This is all part of The 23rd Street Mural Project.

We’ve been placing posters around town at the exact locations where Austin history happened. QR codes link the curious back to the 23rd Street Mural site. The was awesome to let us put up a yard sign right on the grounds! The story tells how she influenced the 23rd Street mural 70+ years after her death. Visit the site! And visit The Elisabet Ney Museum open weekdays 10-5.

just gave us 50 chrysanthemums at cost to celebrate Crazy Carl tomorrow! That’s austin at its best. Turns out they sold flowers to Carl for years and it was always an adventure when he showed up and started spinning them.

Tomorrow 1-4 at Esther’s Follies. Film screening at 1:30 and 3. It may be cold outside but the bar will be open and the flowers will be spinning.

Crazy Carl was a flower salesman, flower spinner, perennial candidate for city council and a devoted partner and caregiver for his Charlotte. He kept Austin weird long after the weird had moved to the burbs.

This Sunday there is a celebration of his life at Esther’s Follies - where, for 30+years, he would spin his flowers, and flash his man-boobs to the delight and horror of audiences and pedestrians alike.

We will be screening our documentary about Carl at 1 and 3pm. Everyone is invited. Please share with anyone interested in celebrating one of the eclectic nonconformist characters that shaped the city we live in now. RIP Crazy Carl. Spin in Peace! 🌸
