We are extremely excited to announce we’re participating in the City of Austin’s Art in Public Places (AIPP) program TEMPO 2021!

TEMPO is a temporary public art program that fosters work by local artists and cultivates exploration of the City of Austin.

Intended to be housed at the Austin Central Library, our living digital installation, titled ReConnected: A Collective Digital Poem, explores the shared experience of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Coming to Austin Central Library this fall.

This weekend!! “Reconnected,” Nick Harbaugh's Arduino art installation will be on exhibit at Bee Cave BuzzFest. If you love art/design/tech and you’re in the Austin area come immerse yourself in the magical medium of light. 💡 👾 🐝

This indoor/outdoor, socially-distanced art exhibit is entirely FREE! Come support local artists that have been hit especially hard by the pandemic. Dec. 17-19, 6-10pm at The Hive in Hill Country Galleria, Bee Cave, TX.

“Reconnected” takes scraped data from Craigslist Missed Connections and reassembles glimpses of human longing through the indifferent glow of 8 LCD screens. It’s an exploration of disconnection and loneliness in our uncertain, hyperconnected times.

Mapbox Workshop is here! We had the pleasure of hosting a Mapbox workshop for the University of Miami's Interactive Media program last week and wanted to share it with anyone interested in using this super powerful software for creating interactive mapping projects.

Here is the link to the Medium post that includes all the written code, examples and explanation, as well as the original data we downloaded from Miami Open Data. There is also a link to the zoom recording of the workshop, if you prefer to follow along in the video.

In the workshop you'll use contaminated sites in Miami to build a custom design using lat/long data, program buttons and text and add in flyovers. From there you can start building anything you want!

We love maps! And are excited to be hosting a Mapbox workshop for the University of Miami's Interactive Media program this afternoon! We will learn how to input custom data, style in the studio editor and then build the web GL app for online with a custom UI interface using their API! We will post the video and blog of the workshop, along with all the original code and data next week!

The US Census data is hands down one of our favorite data libraries. And not only does it contain crazy facts like the number of Alpaca imports, it also makes sure we have the right number of roads, grocery stores, or medical facilities in cities and neighborhoods. It would be very difficult for a store owner or city official to provide you with the things you need without this data! AND you can still participate in the 2020 census - it’s only every 10 years! If you don't believe me check out this animation we produced for Center for American Progress about what it is and why it's been the coolest since 1790 when Thomas Jefferson deployed 650 men on horseback to go door to door!
