Transformation begins with brave conversations—and that stories have the power to open hearts, shift perspectives, and spark real change.

That’s why we’re so proud to once again collaborate with Leela - An Indian Community Theatre on Anklets in the Boardroom – An Interactive Theatre Project.

This is more than a show—it’s a community dialogue wrapped in story and courage. Through powerful narratives shared by South Asian and East Asian professionals, we shine a light on the complexities of workplace discrimination and belonging. These stories touch on universal themes of power, silence, identity, and allyship.

What makes this experience different is YOU. As an audience member, you’re invited to step into the story, explore your own responses, and imagine what justice and empathy look like in action.

If you care about building more inclusive workplaces and communities—and want to move beyond talk into action—we hope you’ll join us. Let’s do the work, together.

It’s BACK!

Anklets in the Boardroom: An Interactive Theatre Project by Leela - An Indian Community Theatre

Too often, Asian and South Asian women experience workplace discrimination in silence. It’s time to change that.

This powerful project, co-sponsored by Austin PBS, in collaboration with Global Coaching Works, LLC and funded by the City of Austin Economic Development Department, creates space for our voices to be heard and our stories to be seen.

We’re in Phase One: Story Circles

This is where it all begins. We invite Asian and South Asian women to join a Story Circle—a safe, supportive space where your lived experiences of workplace discrimination can be shared without fear, judgment, or dismissal.
Through guided conversations facilitated by a coach, we will come together to:

💬 Share our experiences
🤝 Build community with like-minded women
⚡ Explore strategies to navigate power at work

Women who have joined past Story Circles described them as deeply moving, powerful, and freeing. Many left feeling lighter, stronger, and—most importantly—no longer alone.

Be Part of the Conversation:

📅 April 3, 2025 | 7:00 – 8:30 PM (In-Person)
📅 April 4, 2025 | 7:00 – 8:30 PM (Virtual)

Your story is powerful. Your voice deserves to be heard. Come as you are—we need you.

A heartfelt thank you to those who supported and participated in our production last year. We can’t wait to continue this journey with you. 💛

02/15/2025

I recently stepped away from the demands of work, family, and constant digital noise to attend a 5-day silent retreat in the Blue Ridge Mountains. No emails. No meetings. No small talk. Just silence. And what I discovered wasn’t emptiness—it was clarity, creativity, and a profound sense of alignment.
Silence is more than an absence of noise. It’s a powerful tool for leaders, professionals in transition, and high-achievers navigating complex decisions.

🔹 Enhanced Self-Awareness – Without external input and internal chatter, there is deeper clarity about what is really important.
🔹 Better Decision-Making – Mental clarity leads to stronger, more intentional choices.
🔹 Increased Creativity – The best ideas emerge in spaciousness, not in a crowded mind.
🔹 Stress Reduction – Science confirms that silence lowers cortisol levels and improves emotional regulation.
🔹 Stronger Leadership Presence – The best leaders listen deeply—to their teams and to themselves.

While a multi-day retreat isn’t always feasible, small moments of silence can transform how we work and lead:
✅ Start the day with 5 minutes of stillness before checking your phone.
✅ Take a mindful walk—no music, no podcasts, just presence.
✅ Schedule “white space” on your calendar for reflection and thinking.
✅ Use deep breathing between meetings to reset.

In a world that glorifies busyness, silence is a radical act of self-leadership. It’s not about escape—it’s about engaging with life more fully, with clarity and intention.

💡 Where can you create more space for silence in your life? How might it transform your leadership and decision-making? I’d love to hear your thoughts! 👇

Happy Lunar New Year to those who are celebrating!

Growing up as a Third Culture Kid in Singapore, Lunar New Year was a time of vibrant celebrations, dazzling red and gold decorations, and the delicious scent of pineapple tarts in the air. I loved the sense of renewal, togetherness, and excitement that filled the city. From the festive lion dances to the giving (and hoping to receive!) of red envelopes, it was a season of joy, abundance, and connection.

Now, as I reflect on those memories, I’m reminded of the importance of honoring different cultures, embracing new beginnings, and carrying the spirit of generosity into the year ahead.

To all who celebrate—may your year be filled with good fortune, happiness, and endless opportunities! 新年快乐! Gong Xi Fa Cai! 🧧🎉

Meet Liner, the Lion.

Liner was named by my son when he was about 4 years old. Over the years, he’s been a steadfast companion during unsettling plane rides, nerve-wracking doctor visits, and, most recently, medical travel. In every situation, Liner has been a source of comfort and strength, helping my son summon the courage to face tough challenges. To me, Liner has become more than a stuffed animal—he’s a powerful symbol of and .

If you’ve been to one of my workshops, you’ve likely met Liner too. He serves as a reminder that is an essential part of conversations and hashtag — especially the difficult ones where feels extremely risky but the potential rewards are immense. In my sessions and workshops, every time someone steps up to share bravely, they “earn” Liner as a token of their boldness.

Here are a few moments of courage and vulnerability I’ve witnessed during team coaching sessions:

🦁 A team member opened up about feeling excluded from "inner circle" discussions as a new hire. Their honesty sparked a meaningful conversation about inclusivity, leading to changes in how the team collaborated and communicated.

🦁 A manager shared the isolation they felt when tasked with delivering top-down decisions they didn’t fully agree with. Their candor deepened trust within the team and created space for empathy, fostering a stronger sense of connection.

🦁 A team member admitted to battling self-doubt, which had kept her from speaking up during critical discussions. Her vulnerability resonated with others, inspiring a collective conversation about creating a psychologically safe space for all voices to be heard.

Courage doesn’t mean the absence of fear—it means showing up, being honest, and leaning into discomfort for the sake of growth. Sometimes, it takes is a small symbol, like a little lion, to remind us of the we carry within ourselves to have those 🦁

🎉 Happy New Year! 🎉

The start of a new year always feels like a fresh start and reinvention — a time to reflect on what’s worked, what hasn’t, and what’s next. As I step into 2025, I’ve been thinking about how to set intentions that are both meaningful and actionable.

This year, I’m focusing on two themes that align with my values: awareness and self-discipline. These aren’t just buzzwords for me—they’re the principles I want to lean into as I navigate challenges and opportunities, both personally and professionally.

Of course, it’s easy to name themes like these, but turning them into action takes effort. Here's how I’m planning to anchor my intentions to create meaningful action :

⚓ Pause and reflect: When challenges come up, instead of reacting right away, I’m committing to asking, "How can I approach this challenge with themes for this year (i.e. awareness and self-discipline)?" This simple pause can make a big difference because it encourages deliberate decision-making and thoughtful action on a daily basis.

⚓ Set focused goals: I like to organize my goals into categories—work, personal life, relationships, etc.—and ask myself, "WHO do I want to become in each of these areas?" and let that inform WHAT I want to do. James Clear, in his book, Atomic Habits, discusses the importance of this question in creating sustaining habits. Framing goals this way keeps me focused on growth rather than just checking boxes.

⚓ Lean on strengths: A strengths-based approach is essential. Tackling growth opportunities is easier when you bring your strengths to the table. For every goal I set, I think about the skills or qualities I already have that can help me make progress.

⚓ Stay accountable: Goals without accountability tend to fizzle. I’ll be sharing mine with a few trusted people who can help me stay on track. It’s always easier to follow through when someone’s in your corner. Sharing your goals with an accountability partner can provide both motivation and perspective.

What are your intentions for 2025? I’d love to hear how you’re planning for the year ahead. Here’s to growth, progress, and making the most of the months to come!
