JeC-M Studios

JeC-M Studios I eventually want to create a website where I tell people how to tell a visual story with their draw

I am hoping to create a place where people can come to display, market and even sell their arts, music, crafts, writings, well, to write out a complete list would be drawn out, but my goal is to create a blogging site that is much more appeasing and usable than anything that I have ever seen.

The Powerful Word, Free:

This morning, I found myself wondering why I liked this one list I'm on was so effective. I wondered why until I thought about why I clicked on their content. One word, free.

I hate ci******es, dip, chewables and ci**rs. Not because I think they're gross, but because they have a power over. Over me. Even writing this, I'm licking my lips and have hand gripping over my heart. This is because one of the guy groups would share a cigar that one of the guys bought. I'm addicted to the stuff because of 'free' hangout time.

My point is I love free stuff and from the looks of marketing tactics, I'm not the only one. I find it desirable to go to this free podcast or that free ebook, not because of the stuff that I usually won't read or be able to attend, but because of the word free.

The whole rant is because I'm offering a free email course on how to use what I call visual grammar to add to your words and how perspective, body language, move lines sweat beads etc work

I have a commission for to load content for a website so don't expect anything until tomorrow evening, but I have the course outline already written I just have to write an email every other day for a few weeks.

What is My Purpose At JeC M Studios?:

So I have now improved my reach and engagements with the page. I suppose it's time to reiterate my purpose with this site. I eventually want to market for other artists and creatives. But before I can do that, I feel I need to showcase my own talents and abilities. I need to show that I have done well at marketing myself.

So yes, I'm building a platform for my own work, shamelessly promoting myself in a way that is maybe a little sad, but what I eventually want to do is the same thing for other people. I want to say here is work that others are doing. I'm already networking out to others, but it's a slow process so far because I haven't been successful myself.

So my platform is to help others, but it's necessary for me to help myself, first. When it comes down to it, who are you more likely to trust, someone who says they can do it, or someone who has done it? Myself, while I'm proud of what I'm learning, I'm gonna trust the one that has done it.

So, yeah, I'm doing a lot of look at me, mommy, post this on the refrigerator stuff, but if you look at the actual website that I'm promoting, it's actually got some quality links. I've got something worth showing off. So please, at least look through the blog. Look at my work that I've done before you judge me as some kid that doesn't desrve attention.

Why must I have this yearning?

In the world we live in doesn't allow for much job potential for artists. Cartoons sometimes seem like a thing of the past. The reality of the syndicates dying with the newspapers makes the ability to focus on art is no more.

We now have to do our own salesmanship and marketing. Which is great on one hand we know better what the audience reacts to, but on the other hand the artist needs to be consistent and learn marketing themselves.

I think it's a great thing. To be able to determine on my own what must be done in the work. I don't answer to an editor, or an agent or anything really. My work is my own and I get to determine who gets Liscensing and who doesn't.

On the other, it begins to scare people into paralysis. By people, I mean myself included. I get some success and I freeze. It's easier to work when nobody is looking. I suppose I have always been that way.

So now we get to a call to action. If you'd like to learn how to draw or if you know how to draw and have an idea where you want to go, then sign up for my email list. I don't have a thank you page yet so on your side it seems like nothing happened, but I receive all the submissions. The url is buff.ly/2Q8Jdch

3D drawing in pencil.

Jesse Ross-Huffman's answer: Shading tells all. If you're drawing buildings (one example) remember that all the surfaces have different angles meaning shade and textures need to be different. For things facing the light need less shading. Keep your perspective points in mind as you draw. You can...

Life After Flunking Out:

People often try to encourage me to go back to school saying things like, "You can do it, Jesse, two years isn't long." The fact is life in school left me bored.

There are, of course, other reasons I hold. I'm not bitter about it. There are things I learned there that I will always use. Note taking, self-study, writing anything not in the 5 paragraph category (I often feel that's all I was taught in high school). The most important, a strong need for God.

I don't think there is anything left to learn there. I'm enriched, cultured and stamped job ready (come to think of it, so is bread). The best jobs you can't learn in school anyways. I feel I should have just paid more attention in school.

I'm with a family and I wouldn't have it any other way. I suppose the point I'm making is you go to college to network and learn how to live. It's the older mindset that says a degree is training.

Since you can do this on your own school is just another rites of passage. You want to draw do it, if you want to write, do it. The only thing stopping you is other people telling you how.

I can talk about comics until we are blue in the face. I'm working on mine, I'm genuinely working on one. If you look at the home page, you will see one that is a few pages until the pilot is launched.

I know, for a fact, that I want to self-publish. Going on syndicates is dieing just as the newspapers themselves. I cry every time I see the Sunday Comics. Without buyers the industry goes down.

You can make a decent money as a syndicate, don't get me wrong, but just like the schools newspapers don't see any good coming from the arts.

My goals are simply to build a following and publish books for my following. There are plenty of strong webcomics out there. Enough to make the competition worth fighting for.

Today, I don't need as much encouragement as I did the other days, but if I'm on the right path and you like where I'm going continue to sign up for my email list at buff.ly/2Q8zoec.

If money/training weren't a factor, what would you do for a living?

I used to hate the varying ways this question is asked. Not so much as hate it. More like despise the breathe that caused people to ask this. Then I discovered my answer to this question. It was always answered with, "I want to make people laugh."

I'm drawing almost all the time. I sometimes have a laugh or two caused by this. Cartoons aren't just a thing that I do. They're the vary thing that I live for. So you see my art is what I do.

If money and training weren't a problem this is what I would do. I would love to do this full-time, the catch is I need an active following and support. In order to attract one I need to be consistent and fully engaged.

Showing support has no investment at this time. Like, comment, subscribe is all I'm asking. Go to my website. Thank you.

Let's Make This Happen:

I've spoken a lot about JeC M Studios as a school. I've talked about comic strips being made from this. I don't believe this can work.

What I'm saying is there are some things that I'd like to see happen before I believe it. First, I'd like to see a consistant number of followers on each of my pages. I want this FB page to be my central hub. It's my page with the most engagement.

I hate YouTube. It's a great medium for catching attention if you've got about six months worth of material, but in order to catch all of one class you can't find it all. I'm going to have my teaching medium on SkillShare. Yes, you do have to pay but it's only a $15 a month or a $200 for the year. If you're interested on following classes, find me there.

My lack of followers on my blog site, buff.ly/2KQy5Q7 is concerning to me. Please check up there now and then.

I want those 3 things to happen before I can believe in JeC M Studios. Follow me on SkillShare, visit my website and if you haven't already, follow me here.

I know most of you believe in a school/comics studio, but I have to see a response before I act.

Home As I progress in this blog I have found that people actually will commission me for this or that. I had found that sharing how tos on how to market your sight is good for people to know. Consistency is key. I need to get the word out and let people know there are options. I love to help by teac...

Bob in A License to Code Bare with the man, he was just thought up last night. Can you blame him for being poorly rendered? Here it is, my first fully (Hopefully today) plotted storyboard. I've been drawing a lot lately. Feel like I'm developing a style.

I had no intention of participating in NaNoWriMo. Nothing was coming together as an idea. It was all Simon Sinek's fault. I'm back at work on my own work again. I feel I always will.

I might finish an idea that I had many years ago. Biopsych. I have no better name, yet. This is my own work. I may have done some posts on it. Probably not, though. This is a work that I have always kept close to my heart.

The reason I'm posting is, as I previously noted, I am separating my blogs. Some Comic News and JeC M Studios. JeC M Studios is my own work. My own portfolio site. My goal with it is to draw and encourage others to do likewise. Jec-m-studios.com/MyOneStopPortfolio

90% of what I desire to do is marketing other's work. Hence the creation of SomeComicNews.co/EncyclopediaOfComix. I will no longer pursue work. I suppose I give up on the job-hunt. If anyone wants to approach me, than I will still be open. But I need a portfolio.

My next blog will include an artist to be named later. SomeComicNews. I will work to promote others' work. However, the getting off the couch includes working my own work as well.
