"There will be seasons when God’s promise seems distant from our circumstances. In those moments, faith asks a different question. Not, 'Can I see how this will work?' but, 'Do I trust the One who said it?' Scripture gives us our answer. “For all the promises of God find their Yes in Him.” (2 Corinthians 1:20). God has never asked us to carry the responsibility of making His promises come true. He asks us to trust Him enough to live as though His faithfulness is more certain than what we can see today."

"This long Holiday weekend, despite brutal weather plaguing many parts of the country, millions of us gathered to celebrate America’s Independence Day, a day of freedom and liberty. As we do every year, fireworks, patriotic songs, and barbecues provided the backdrop for these gatherings. We reflect upon and give thanks for the liberties we enjoy as a nation.

Yet this day can also invite us to consider a more profound kind of liberty—the truest freedom found only in God through Christ. Especially in this contentious season.

Christian liberty is a call to live a responsible, loving life. It calls us to use our freedom not just for our own benefit but to serve and uplift others. We are free to be generous, to be compassionate, to be peacemakers, to seek justice, and to share the Good News of Christ’s love and salvation."

"Perhaps our most important duty as fathers is to apply the practical wisdom of God every day of our lives, guiding our children as we demonstrate how to live and love. This is the essence of Deuteronomy 6:5-6 which teaches “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart.” When we live this out, our children see it and grow in their own faith."

Excerpt from this week's All Things Faithful devotional: When God Uses Our Missing Donkeys (a lesson from 1 Samuel 9).

"Saul wasn’t looking for a kingdom. He was looking for donkeys. That’s actually how 1 Samuel 9 starts. His father Kish’s donkeys wandered off, and Saul spent three days trudging through the hill country of Ephraim, through Shalishah, through Shaalim, through Benjamin, finding nothing. Three days of frustration, wrong turns, and sore feet. By verse 5 he’s so tired and discouraged he turns to his servant and says, essentially, “Come, let us go back, lest my father cease to care about the donkeys and become anxious about us.”

"Today, many people wear the title “Christian,” but the greater question is this: do our lives reflect the Father to whom we claim to belong?
Do we love like Him?
Do we forgive like Him?
Do we hunger for truth, holiness, mercy, and grace?
Maybe the most important thing we can ask ourselves is not what political group, social movement, denomination, or culture we belong to.
The real question is this:
Whose child am I?"
