🚨 “HOUSE OF HORRORS”: TEXAS MAN SENTENCED TO 198 YEARS AFTER CHILD SPEAKS UP
FORNEY, TEXAS — One child spoke up. What followed exposed what a Texas judge would later call a “literal house of horrors.”
Now, 54-year-old Steven Boyd Wright has been sentenced to 198 YEARS in prison after a Kaufman County jury convicted him of two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Two convictions.
99 years each.
And the judge ordered them served back-to-back. ⚖️
But the 198-year sentence is only the ending.
The case began nearly two years earlier with a call that brought Forney Police to Wright’s home — and allegations that would grow increasingly disturbing as investigators dug deeper.
🚔 ONE CALL STARTED IT ALL
On October 27, 2024, Forney Police responded to Wright’s residence following a report that a sexual assault had just occurred.
When officers arrived, they discovered several minors at the home and learned Wright had allegedly been supplying them with alcohol.
Wright was arrested on November 1, 2024, with assistance from the Kaufman County Street Crimes Task Force. At the time, police publicly asked anyone with information about Wright or other possible incidents to come forward.
What police were investigating would eventually become much bigger than that initial call.
⚠️ ALCOHOL. CO***NE. AND A CHILD’S TESTIMONY.
Nearly two years later, Wright sat before a Kaufman County jury.
Prosecutors presented evidence that Wright had supplied a child with alcohol and co***ne before sexually assaulting the victim inside his home.
The child took the witness stand and testified.
Jurors also heard evidence involving DNA, toxicology and forensic testing, along with testimony from a forensic interviewer and a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner.
And then came another disturbing revelation.
📹 HIDDEN CAMERAS INSIDE THE HOME
Prosecutors played recorded jail calls that they said captured Wright admitting he had placed hidden video cameras in rooms throughout his residence to secretly capture explicit images of minors.
Jurors also heard from another person who testified that Wright had sexually abused them repeatedly when they were a child, years before the 2024 investigation.
During the punishment phase, prosecutors presented additional testimony involving a third minor who lived nearby and had been identified during the investigation.
One report had opened the door.
What investigators said they found behind it was a pattern stretching far beyond a single night.
⚖️ THE JURY’S ANSWER: GUILTY. GUILTY.
After hearing the evidence, the jury deliberated for roughly one hour before convicting Wright on both counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Then came the punishment.
99 YEARS.
And another:
99 YEARS.
Judge Tracy Gray of the 489th District Court ordered the maximum sentences to run consecutively, bringing Wright’s total punishment to an extraordinary:
🔥 198 YEARS IN TEXAS PRISON.
Five jurors reportedly returned to the courthouse the following day on their own to watch Wright’s formal sentencing.
🏚️ A “LITERAL HOUSE OF HORRORS”
Before Wright was taken into custody, Judge Gray summed up what the trial had revealed in just a few words.
She called Wright a “wolf in sheep’s clothing.”
And she described the home where children had been raised as a:
“literal house of horrors.”
Those words are hard to forget.
So is the fact that this investigation began because a child spoke up.
🛑 RDP TAKEAWAY
Parents, grandparents, guardians — this is why we keep saying it:
KNOW WHO IS AROUND YOUR CHILDREN.
Know where they’re spending the night.
Know whose house they’re hanging out at.
Know which adults are supplying alcohol, drugs or creating an environment where normal boundaries between adults and children start disappearing.
And please — listen when a child tells you something isn’t right.
The person who harms a child isn’t always a stranger lurking somewhere in the shadows.
Sometimes they’re already inside the circle.
Sometimes they’re trusted.
Sometimes the house looks perfectly ordinary from the street.
Until somebody speaks up.
In this case, a child did.
Police listened.
Investigators kept digging.
A jury heard the evidence.
And a judge ultimately described what had been uncovered as a “literal house of horrors.”
Now Steven Boyd Wright has 198 years to answer for the crimes a jury found him guilty of committing.
Two convictions.
Two 99-year sentences.
Consecutive.
🚨 198 YEARS.
And if there is one part of this story worth remembering above everything else, it’s this:
ONE CHILD SPOKE UP.
Listen to them. Believe them. Protect them. Every single time. ❤️🩹
