I was organizing my desk and shelves yesterday, trying to get my many projects under control, when I ran across a notebook from late 2019. Its first few pages were filled with preliminary notes and a character sheet for a Genius: the Transgression campaign that never got past session zero. The campaign was killed in part by COVID, and in part by the GM's new job workload.

Well, folks — just as I started to get my feet back under me for these weekly spell revisits, the music changed. I'm still cuttin' a rug, but my solo tap dance has become a line dance. Morgenstern is being relocated. Let me esplain... Down the Twisted Path Remember when I said I a few posts back that I had added some new things to my plate, and it was taking a while to digest it all?

For our return to the Morgenstern Revisited posts, I present two more spells that were inspired by twisting their standard cousins in a new direction, concussive fireball and deteriorate, from Morgenstern's Spellbook.

Fiery Boom

Concussive Fireball was Morgenstern's attempt to cram even more damage into a 20-foot radius explosion.

For our return to regular posting, I'd like to share the Sexton D&D background I created for a character in a horror-leaning 5e campaign I've been running. Long story short, it's taken a while to stabilize enough that I feel like I can return to posting again. But I think I have handle on fitting everything I want to do into my schedule...

A couple of weeks ago, I posted a class description for the Fell Sylvanus inspired by Valent Games's defunct Permafrost setting. When I was working on that class, I thought a lot about the dryads in D&D. For obvious reasons. They are always depicted as females in fantasy settings because they are based on the nymphs of Greek lore...

For this week's installment of the Morgenstern Revamp, I'd like to talk about blurred vision and bolster magic.

A Hindrance of Vision

In addition to making improved or more deadly versions of existing spells, Morgenstern liked to dabble in less effective versions at lower spell levels...
